I have an Australian delivered 1984 323i. This was a model never released in the US.
It's a problem since all the good BMW aftermarket part suppliers seem to be US based, and the US websites never list this model or tell you whether its compatible. Not even FCP 'Euro' lists this model.
I need some guidance as to which model is comparable. Is the pre facelift 325i the same car as the euro 323i (besides engine)? Or am I supposed to look at the 320i?
I don't need help on the M20 engine difference. The earlier Jetronic vs Motronic means almost every external engine part is different, from starter motors to hoses to radiators. So don't need help on that.
But what I am more focusing on is aftermarket : rotors, brake shoes, suspension, brake lines, flywheel, bushings, control arms, sway bars e.t.c
There are some great kits out there for the above, but it may not be right for the 323i
Also the short shift kits for the 5 speed. Again I'm unsure if it will even work on the 323i.
Is there a resource out there that I can look up the OEM parts numbers across the different E30 models, which will tell me if something is cross compatible?
Also, what is the best website to buy quality aftermarket stuff from? Back in 2005-2006 the place to be was Turner Motorsport, but in the meantime it looks like things have changed dramatically.
Sorry for all these questions, I have just been out of this scene for so long now and don't know what resources to use.
