Update 10/4:
Everything is welded up. Yesterday I started packaging the plates with hardware and shipping in the order I received payments.
I noticed some casting differences between the spindles on my car and the spare spindles I used for mockup that cause slight interference between an outer edge of the plate and spindle. To remedy this I'll include a handful of washers to be used to space the plate a bit closer towards the brake disk (which if anything will help the air be directed more directly to the vented disk).
Update 9/29:
Got a few sets finished today. Will finish the rest this weekend and start shipping early next week.
Update 9/27:
The parts have arrived. I will pick them up tonight and bring a few to work tomorrow to get a couple sets finished for whomever needs them urgently. Otherwise i will assemble and check fitment of all of them over the weekend and ship them out early next week.
Update 9/18:
Didn't realize it but the machine shop owner got married over last weekend which caused an (understandable) slight delay. He started cutting the plates last night and will finish today. Hoping to have all the material shipped to me within a day or so.
Update 9/6:
The machine shop has received the materials and will cut the plates early-mid next week.
Update 8/15:
Test fitted the plates on the car. Fits like a glove. There will be no interference with any brake calipers.
Now that I'm happy with the design, I will start taking orders.
Paypal $70+$10shipping = $80 total to charlespalella@gmail.com, provide shipping address and provide r3v username. Lead time is about 3 weeks from the day I place the order. I will close the group buy and place the order in one week: 8/22
Update 8/14:
Prototypes fit very nicely on my test spindles, pictures below. Test fitting on the car this afternoon after which I will open the preorder and place the order for materials in about a week.
I am having a set of these water jetted for myself and figured I'd post it up to the forum to see if anyone else is interested in buying a set. I'll probably place the order in a week or so. I am having a test set made first to confirm fitment.
I'm thinking $70 for a set which would include hardware. I am using 16 gauge 304 stainless steel.
Here's a render
Here is the prototype. It seems to fit perfectly on the spare spindle I have. I'll stick it on the car later while I do some other brake work for final fitment confirmation. I will be welding a short piece of tube on the backing plate for the pieces that I sell.
