In Australia we have companies called "battery repackers" that take worm out oem batteries pull them appart and replace the cells with equivalent aftermarket cells.

It was more popular back in the nicad days as nicads wpuld wear out quite fast.

Cant point you in the direction of anyone local to you but someone must do it somewhere.

I enquired about getting an AEG battery done just last week. For mine it was more expensive than a new battery but in your case since you have no other option perhaps it might be worthwhile.

This! I lost my house to a lithium battery blowing up in an HP laptop. Its amazing the power behind them.

Would you be willing to let me paypal you the cost of the batteries and shipping (plus something for your time) to buy and send me two of them from the link I posted?

Sorry about the house, hopefully normalcy is nearing restoration. Thanks for the warning, I know how volatile they can be and have no intention of poking that bear.

              Thanks!

Ingersoll stood up and offered me the pricing they give their largest distributors (they say and it seems legit.

              I ordered this:

              And this:

It's a 90.00 savings on these prices and hundreds on the inflated no one pays retail.

Its no consolation but Ridgid has a lifetime warranty on their tools and batteries if you register them. I started replacing my Bosches w them and so far so good.

Doesnt help you but for future reference

What if they stop making the batteries for a device?

Appears to be the case although I paid about $100 less for the same kit only I didnt get a hammer drill (which I really need). 2 weeks ago I was in there and saw that very hammer drill on demo for $149 w another charger and 2 batteries. I grabbed one and the cashier gave me 10% off, got it home and found out it wasnt a hammer drill. Took it back, got them to price match it AND got the 10% off price...so $179 hammer drill for $134 w a lifetime warranty :-)

Canceled the IR order, just chatted HD & got 10% off 266 delivered, no stock in the three closest stores which is a good sign. (high demand)

                        Thanks Jeff!
