Story behind the car:
My father purchased my mom an E21 for her birthday when I was a young child. (say, 1986?) I have many fond memories in that blue E21, and vowed to always own a BMW with the "4 headlights". I had been hunting for the "right" BMW for quite some time after years fiddling with Honda's, VW's, and even a little stint alongside the Mopar world of Dodge. I traveled over 500km's to pick up this bone stock silver E30 convertible, somewhat reluctant in owning the convertible.
It went through a few notable phases, such as the "maxi-flush" gold wheels which was my 1st modification soon after getting the car. I replaced my 2nd hand Tokico suspension setup for something a little more favourable and picked up the GC's.
Later came the addition of the front valance, the Ronal LS's and little euro bits to make it stand out from the crowd.

I then, met Barron...AKA 411 on R3V. This is when this E30, got it's treatment.
Barron has been the backbone of this build and I owe him the guidance and trusted his opinion on what should, and shouldn't be done. He knows his E30's, and he knows Hartge. I am ever thankful for his guidance throughout this, among many things I've learned I've also made a new great friend.

When I met him, I was in the midst of sorting out my M30 swap, and with the help of R3Vlimited and some excellent folks here, the resources on this very site carried me from basically being a oil change and brakes kinda guy, to fully sorting out my passion, my hobby.

Huge shoutout also goes to Georges over at RPM Motorworks in Ottawa Ontario, who finally diagnosed my running issue (placement of oxygen sensor was bad)and also Derek Louthoude of Waxed Detailing for keeping her clean and fresh.

oh right...and my loving wife of course, Kealey. thanks for not allowing me to give up on this project, and assuring I see it through.

What it started as, and how it evolved...

and then, it got real!

fruits of the labor

and probably my favorite pic:

So clean! Refreshing to all those garbage builds on IG with shitty kits and ugly headlights.

Honored to have one of my full grain leather boots in amongst Hartge goodies.

Nice uncommon build. I remember drooling over this kit on a red coupe in the BMP catalog.

nice transformation. the quality job you did on this car is fully deserving of COTM if not car of the year.

beautiful. love the interior.

Why did they decide on the M30 to put the air intake right over the exhaust manifold and valve cover? Seems like a lot of heat might soak into the intake itself that way.

Props

Always admired this car during the M30 swap.

I'm not really a Hartge guy but make no mistakes, love the tribute details, and the look is unique. Really stunning and well deserved.
