heard a rumor that e46 m3 rear seats fit rear of e30 m3....

any truth to that?...I find it hard to believe that if its possible, I cant find one picture of that on the entire internet...Anyone have firsthand knowledge?

i can't imagine. you never know i guess.

you could go out and buy both m3's, try it out and report back?

I saw a post maybe on IG. He used the 4 Dr rear seat back or something like for better fitment. Had to fab custom brackets. e24 rear buckets fit also. No first hand knowledge though.

E24 seats only fit if you cut up half the seat or remove the rear bulkhead section altogether :P

        Sure does look cool, though...

This. However a more economically feasible approach would be to go to picknpull and find any 2 dr e46 and 2dr e30 and try it before you buy it.

2 dr and 4 dr E30 seats are almost exactly the same. The only difference is 4 door seats have rounded corners.

I have an e46m and a coupé as well as cabriolet e30 and they sure don't seem like e46 coupé seats would "drop in." I'm sure with some work you could make it work but I'm fairly sure they wouldn't be an easy fit

Convertible rear seats are completely different from E30 sedans.

Vert e30 seats, fit into coupes in rear, mk1 rear seats, e36 M 3 coupe seats, and 1 other.

Have seen quite a few posts on IG of people doing the work. I do think though, most people just shove them in and call it good

edit: Jparkr did a nice job of e30 very seats in his coupe, and the rear panels also

vert E30 rear seats can't possibly fit well inside a sedan E30 - they're way too narrow.

OP mentioned e30 M3, so thought we were talking about coupes?

e46s use a different type of leather. It wouldn't look close. Even black and black.

He is trying to fit e46 seats so Im guessing he doesnt care about the fine details of fitment, matching the front seats material or pattern, etc.

Unless he used the vert rear side panels as well to fill in. I thought about doing that in the past. Would be a nice alternative to M3 seats, although I know a guy who is converting standard E30 rear seats into M3 style.

Truth, I have no idea how a cabriolet seat in a coupé could look good
