    1968 Florida 1600 Restoration Project

Now this is a special car. Florida Green on Tobacco interior. 1968 build, numbers matching, ridiculously unmolested. I should start a build thread.

Why do I do this to myself.

So what's the plan for this one? Stock restoration?

Wish I could find a car that clean that easily out here.

I like the idea of a stock car with a simple drop and nice wheels. I'm thinking of widening the stock steel wheels, and running the dog-dish hubcaps that come stock on these. It will be a very tasteful car. I'll keep it 4-speed because I have a brand new 3-finger flywheel and clutch in the trunk. If I recall, these have been NLA for near 10 years now.

I'll probably update the rear end to allow me a short-neck diff and a driveshaft that doesn't have three guibos. Then a set of swaybars and I'm done.

But there is a bit of rust that needs addressing. Then there is the interior. I need a new backseat in tobacco (top and bottom piece), and a new carpet. I should be nearly set after that.

I'm actually excited for a simple, stock car. I don't know why I'm drawn to 1600s.

I am voting yes on this project.

I'm a big proponent of (slightly) widened steelies with chrome caps. I'm thinking of making my 4.5x15 Alfa wheels into 6 or 6.5x15 with original caps.

                        Howz your health, young man?
