    WTB: 88+ 325ix

Wanting to get back into an e30. Looking for an 88 or newer 325ix. Must be a manual. 2 or 4 door is fine. I'm located in the Midwest but willing to travel for the right car.

My old car is up for sale: https://www.facebook.com/share/16nsq29VLe/ (well, I think it might be my car...)

I bought the car in NJ from a guy with a lot of cars - I don't honestly remember details like miles/etc., but it was a great car. I put the ASA AR-1's on it:

Then I needed something that could haul stuff, so I got an E39 Touring. I had an aunt who really needed a car and was in a tough spot, so I sorta sold the car (meaning I self-financed it for her and she sorta-paid me), I hooked her up with a place that knew BMW's in western NC and she drove the car for years. I did a few things on it - she'd meet me in Winston and a buddy and I would do whatever, but mainly she used the place near her.

Early in lockdown, I got a letter from the state of NC that the car had been declared abandoned. When I checked it out, it turned out she'd never picked it up from that shop and it had been there for months. They'd replaced a radiator hose and she'd even paid the bill, but they'd put a note on the invoice that she needed $400 worth of work soon (rear brakes and something else). I'm guessing it spooked her or something. She had always been a bit of a hoarder, but apparently she'd gone deep and had other mental health issues. The contact info I had for her was no longer good, so I couldn't find her. :(

I picked up the car, and was planning to take it to my buddy in Winston so I could evaluate it. As it turned out, that was a good thing as one of the rear calipers had seized.

Here's the whole thread on it, but a pic to show how punished the car was :(

This brake pad is still on a magnet in my garage:

Anyway, the timing was bad, so after cleaning it out (which was a huge thing - it was pretty filthy) and doing some other small stuff, I put it up for sale. I had new inner ball joints and a set of rear calipers that went with the car. No idea if that ever happened. The guy who bought it was a State Trooper who wanted to make it into a project to do with his elderly father. I think I saw it when it went up for sale a couple years later, but didn't save the ad or any pix.

I'm not 100% sure it's my old car, but I'm pretty sure. The wheels, the damage, the color (how many Lazurblau '91 iX manuals could there be??), etc. all seem to match up. It had some bits of rust here and there, some bondo in a couple places from something that happened before me (and I never knew about until I got it back). My aunt also apparently put it in a ditch at some point - the left rear wheel was the spare (the last ASA was in the trunk) - so there were a couple new dents. For an iX that came from New Jersey, it was remarkably free of rust. There were some spots developing when I got it back, though mainly surface stuff.

Looking back at the pix in the FB car, I've developed a little bit of a doubt, but...

For some reason I didn't get a notification that you replied. Looks like it's sold though. Thanks anyways. I'll keep looking.
