i rather fix and engine or transmission and make my hands dirty than fixing a dashboard. also, i bought an mtech 92 vert last year. for 5k. and my buddy wanted to have it so badly i sold it to him.so dont tell me 8k is not enough. 8k is not enough if its a true mtechnic, with the right seats and steering wheel, but not for the mtech2 kit.Glad it's only your opinion and not an actual hard thing to fix.
I'll just throw this out there as someone who has shopped for this exact car. If your budget is $8k and clean cars look "weird" and the idea of a dash swap is more than you can manage, this is not a car for you. Trust me on that.Comment

are you bored?get a life dude. didnt say i wont a true m-technic anywhere. but i will change my post, so you feel better.Just decided. It's either white, or it's likely not gonna be the car for you. Less than 200 92s were black. The rest are white.
91s came in silver, red, Macau blue but they are true mtechnics, not appearance packages and your $8k won't get you much.
If it does not absolutely kill you, I'd suggest doing even the most basic internet research, perhaps a simple google search, so that you know even a little big about what you're asking for and whether it even exists. VComment

And for what it's worth, Henna30 sold his Brilliantrot true MT convertible (before being totalled) to Shmev for somewhere in the $8-9k range last summer. Car was in great, well-maintained, operating condition with only minor cosmetic issues.
There is an MT2 for sale at Windy City Motorsports here in Chicago for $7,900. Has been for sale for a month with no takers. It's very clean and was previously owned by an R3V member. Only reason I haven't bought it is because the seller is unwilling to budge on price to an acceptable level (for me) for the time being.
Ruppertm, your budget is fine... if you can find one that meets your other buying criteria. Good luck with your search! And yes, those other guys are truly truly bored.Comment

I think Eric Berger sold his white M tech for around 10 as well. I remember when these cars were floating around for $2000 and few people knew their significance. Since nice E30's are commanding premiums, it makes sense these would inflate as well. so a 5k car could easily be 6-7, perhaps more now"I'd probably take the E30 M3 in this case just because I love that little car, and how tanky that inline 6 is." - thecj

But that's when you could have got them cheap! haha. If they get a bunch of calls on a car they are going to wise up. A few guys I know found one out in the desert on a dirt lot with a "for sale" sign on it. Needless to say, they got it cheap. Patience and luck have a lot to do with it."I'd probably take the E30 M3 in this case just because I love that little car, and how tanky that inline 6 is." - thecj

Cool story bro. Good for your buddy.
You want to get dirty fixing an engine or tranny but can't manage a dash swap? Okkkkk
So if that car had a bad motor but a good dash you'd buy it?
