Thanks for the tip Eric. Any suggestions as of where to get the Euro bumpers / headlights parts from? They make the car look so much cleaner & better overall.

I have a set of euro lights, wipers, dual wash tank, and grills, plus associated wiring that could be installed prior to pick-up or boxed up and put in the trunk to install yourself.

My car already had the euro bits, so I got really lucky. I'd buy the primed bumpers new from BMW and gave them painted body color if I was in your position. It matches the shadow line belt line trim nicely

I'll check with my local dealer about the availability of the E28 euro bumpers. I wonder if these can be used with the front US lower valance (for the time being until I can locate a Euro piece). If so, then I can check with VSR about the cost to paint & install them on the car.

Thanks again Eric & you have some uber cool cars BTW!

                    Thanks man!

The euro front valence is pretty cheap and easy to install, it's the rear panel that is a bear to deal with. They are quite different between the front and rear. You have to either weld the holes the us bumpers leave, or remove the rear firewall and replace it with the euro panel. The us rear panel is shaped a bit differently, so replacement is the more correct option.

Damn that sucks! Perhaps the OP is taking their time to avoid the same mistake somewhere else on the car? Reputation's a big thing with the older BMW crowd, I'd be shocked if they didn't try to make it right. Good luck, either way

Thanks. I had also ask them to perform an engine compression test but I do not know as they haven't contacted me yet to let me know.

VSR has an excellent reputation, Their race prep season is well under way so this might be lower on their priority list.

There are a couple of Shops in the DC area that might have a good 265 Getrag.

I'd agree with VSR's reputation, one of the best in the business. I'm not sure if I'd follow what the purists have to say on mye28 about not swapping the G280. Fact is, the G265 is just as strong, there are WAY more available, and the lack of ability to repair the G280 makes the good used ones command huge prices. Pick up a G265 for $350, stick the G280 in the trunk and drive it back to your house. Someday there will be a way to rebuild the G280 when the E34 M5 market starts to upswing and guys are restoring good ones.
