    The four cables are
    1. Engine ground
    2. Alternator ground
    3. Hood strap
    4. Valve cover strap

#1 and #2 are required. #3 and #4 are mostly cosmetic. You can also ground your starter, which is another cable we offer but not part of the kit. Starter is normally grounded through the engine block, then through engine ground cable. Starter to alternator power cable is not needed as S14 has a 0 gauge cables already.

    Hope that helps!

Don't mess with those old original cables. I cannot stress enough how important engine grounding is.

These cables really do make a big difference. You will immediately notice your engine cranks over faster and you may even notice your headlights are brighter.

I put a set of these in last week and noticed faster starts, esp. hot but generally beefier startups. These are cheap and incredibly well made, I suggest anyone who's rejuvenating an e30 to do it. Corrosion is an sneaky thing.

What all needs to be removed to install the engine ground and alternator ground on an M3? Any DIY? If not maybe I can create one for you. I got this kit a few months ago, and hoping to finally get them installed. Thanks!

No DIY needed, this is a really quick and simple install. Just swap your original engine ground and alternator ground with the new cables. Done.

Post #1 shows not only the alternator and main ground but also those woven straps (Battery tray to valve cover & Radiator to Hood strap, if I understand correctly). How much for a 2 gauge kit with those woven straps as well?

After my 2.7i swap I am convinced that those straps are toast.

Side note: still in a holding pattern on my cluster refresh. I only daily the car 4-5 months out of the year and it is still prime convertible season.

No problem, with prime car show season, we are at our busiest so lead times are long.

The straps are $10 and $12 respectively. Buy the large cable kit and one of the $10 strap and I will include the longer valve strap at no charge. PM me your Paypal info and I will send you an invoice. In addition, since you are a 2000+ R3v member, you get 10% discount also.
