Attention:
I've got a 1986-1992 SI board that is refurbished but the service LED driver is bad. This means that your temp, tach, and MPG gauges will work fine but you will not have service LED readout. This is perfect for someone with GG's voltmeter.
Has brand new lithium batteries and power capacitors.
$50 shipped, only one at this price.Owner - Bavarian Restoration

Greg I've got a puzzler. My service indicators don't work, though the rest of the cluster works fine, so I assumed dead batteries. I pulled the cluster, removed the SI board, and tested the batteries in place - 3.16 and 3.14 volts (though oddly the polarity seems the opposite of what is indicated on the battery).
My door buzzer was "disconnected" by cutting two wires, so I'm wondering if the expert mechanics who worked on this car before me did something similar to disconnect the SI lights. I've already tested all the fuses, they are all good.
Don't want to waste either of our time by shipping you a board that's probably good - what else do you suggest I check?
Thanks!
Edit - wonder if this is the same case as your post #122 above...1988 325iC SOLD

Aside from dead SI board batteries, the SI board can sustain damage from over current due to shorts, incorrect fusing, physical damage, or semiconductor damage. See my thread on SI board damage.
Also verify the led light panel is actually there and installed in correct fashion.
Our website has comprehensive info on how to test SI board batteries. Testing voltage is not truly conclusive. Overall, if the SI batteries are still original, assume they have died.Owner - Bavarian Restoration

Nice work man. I have a M3 cluster I modified to work in my iX, (ie. i tach face, i fuel guage, and i coding plug)
Im having an issue with the temp guage moving about and brake lining light coming on and off (brakes are fine) tapping on the cluster makes all these things go on and off so Im pretty sure the SI board is the issue.
Let me know what you think. I also have an extra cluster you can have along with the core that is currently in my car. Im also in the bay area a couple times a month if that makes it easiersigpicComment

It appears my LED board portion of the SI board is missing. I can't imagine a repair shop removing this as a solution to having to reset the service light, but that appears to be the case. Wow. Greg is shipping me one and we'll see if that fixes the issue. If not, complete board replacement it is...1988 325iC SOLD

Yep, that's all it was. LED board missing. I can't believe how incompetent some shops are. Thanks to Greg for getting me the LED board quickly.
Suggestion - since incorrect screws going into the SI board are a common problem, perhaps Greg could add the screw sizes to his tech page? I would have taken pictures but I didn't think of it until after the fact.1988 325iC SOLD
