Hey,

Got my boots today. I am very happy both with the boots and with the incredibly professional service.
Here is a short DIY of how I glued the boots to their clips. I only have pictures of the shifter boot but the process is the same for the E brake boot.

Things you will need:
Contact Cement and small brush (usually comes with the cement)
Blinder Clips (30 small, less if they are larger but the small ones work well for this)
Boots and boot clips
Clean working surface


First off just do a dry test fit to make sure everything fits and to visualize how everything will line up and fit together. Make sure the back of the boot (shifter and E brake) are positioned with the back of the clip that pops into the center consul. Gluing them on backwards would suck.

Next make sure the gluing surface of the plastic shifter boot clip is clean, and then apply some contact cement around the bottom edge of the clip.


Then apply some glue to the inner bottom edge of the shifter boot. Be careful! Contact cement likes to get on things and makes these strings when you dip your brush in the bottle and pull it out. Things can get messy fast, so work slowly and carefully.


Let the glue get a bit tacky. This will make sure everything is not sliding around while you are trying to glue up and fasten everything down.
Slide your boot over the plastic clip, making sure that front, back and center is all lined up correctly. Starting at the back (french seam), align the bottom edge of the boot up with the edge of the clip and then press them together. Then put some blinder clips on to keep everything in its place. Doing this, work your way half way around one side of the clip, and then around the other half.



Fallow the same steps for the E brake boot.
Finished!

hehe, i have never glued and of the 4 different shift/ebrake boots i have owned...i just put it on the frame, then install, always hold up.

that is a good DIY though.

Yeah, the boots hold on pretty good without glue. It's just a pain getting them to stay put when you're snapping the trim into place.

I was inspired by your post deutschman, I'm going to make a PDF doc that I'll link in my OP with some pics and instructions.
