I was just thinking about this for my dad's '89iX. It has 439k miles and I think he replaced them 200k ago. 6x M50 injectors are $89 on mepeh.com with six ZGR5A plugs or WR8LC+ plugs (same price as M20 injectors with either plugs).

Tried that clear coating for a while, but looks cheap IMHO ((

I also found some you tube videos showing the plume difference when I searched the injector part numbers.

Ok, I'm going to buy something right now. what would you suggest for a stock m20? I bought a turner motorsport chip for this car but I still have to put it in (rear caliper hanging is holding me up until tomorrow). I like the idea of the m50 injectors.

If you have the non ETA engine, the M50 is a really good option.
In 4 years, since i've had this thread, this upgrade was the most common order. I ship out a couple of M50 sets per week to M20 owners and none of them came back.
I wouldn't recommend it if i had to deal with returns or troubleshooting :)

Stock M20 injectors have an outdated design and way more hassle with them.
I usually scrap about 30% of those needle type injectors.

Only the ETA engines usually stay stock since the impedance of their injectors is way too low. (though i've read some positive experience with this upgrade as well)

I also sell them locally, in California where we need to smog our cars every 2 years, and all cars passed smog just fine.

This will be the first upgrade i'll be doing to my M20, when i find one in June ;)

Also, as far as $ for results, i doubt there's anything better you can do out there.
And i don't stock rebuilt injectors - I only service them after the order is placed, so there's no risk of them being sticky when you get them. Fresh off the testing bench :)
