    Euro Valance fitment

Here are some pictures of the euro valance like requested.

I'm not trying to confuse anyone, sorry about that. I may not have enough knowledge about the valance. I know that there were two distinct kinds made for these cars for early model. However when I purchased this particular valance from Classic Euro Parts, first they didn't have in stock the smaller kind that I think may fit my specific car. I made sure to ask seller a question on eBay messenger for fitment giving specific year and model of my car (1987 E300 325i US spec). He told me that this euro valance will fit just right. So, I was just going off of the information given.

    Thanks all for your feedback.

The trim piece below the grill is separate on the early cars. On the 86-87 it's part of the valance but check to see if it's bolted on. If not, then you need the piece from the 84-85 cars.

          Euro Valance fitment

Ok, so now I see on CEP store they have the correct valance I needed.

If any of you guys here like to buy my early euro valance I'm happy to sell it to you at good price (it's been painted cirrusblau). I will just modify my us valance and be done with it. Lesson learned.

          Thanks!

The 772 valance is the one most folks with diving board cars want. It's just about impossible to get in the US even from BMW, even with a euro VIN title needed to place the order. You give BmW your money and they ship you a US diving board valance with a euro part number sticker. So if CEP has one available and they insist it's OEM (which they do), then buy it before they're all gone.

Once you receive you'll see the bottom of it doesn't mount to the rad support like the one you first received. Sorry you had to find out the hard way but there are certainly folks that will buy it. Good luck and please post pics once you gets the new valance!

Just get the 84-85 piece new or from the junkyard. My buddy in Bellflower has an 85 318 that he's parting.

This is kind of confusing. He's looking for the flat euro valance, not the slanted/angled valances. Don't the 84/85 US 318i have the angled valance on them?

EDIT: here's an 85 318i sedan - definitely an angled metal valance

and a US spec 325e with the same angled valance

if folks want to understand the differences check here.

                    and here

once you read those threads you'll find the following:
the lower edge of the "angled" eurovalance bolts to the rad support. when you look at it from the side, the lower edge is further rear than the top. The part numbers of this angled valance are 41331916986 (lower piece) and 41331884353 (thin metal piece above the bumper).

here's the 353 thin strip part. you can still order it from BMW since it was used on the 84-85 E30s. But remember it only works with the angled lower part.

The newer (10/85 through 87) "flat" eurovalance used with chrome euro bumpers is vertically straight. when you look at it from the side the top and bottom edges are vertically aligned. There are two flat chrome bumper eurovalances, 41331933770 (missing AC vent holes) and 41331933772 (the one everyone in the US retrofitting chrome eurobumpers really wants).

like I posted earlier, don't bother ordering a 772 from BMW. they'll ship you a 771 with a 772 label on them. 771 is the standard US metal valance for diving board cars.

there is one more valance that's only for plastic bumper cars in both US and europe, part number 41331961227.

here's an angled eurovalance that someone tried to use with a plastic spoiler designed for a flat euro valance. since it's angle the plastic part is way too long.

325i cars have oil coolers mounted in front of the radiator. you CAN'T bolt the angled valance to them.

I meant just get the thin strip under the grills from the 84-85 and convert to the early style since he already has the valance and M tech spoiler painted.

Gotcha thanks. but he'd have to pull/relocate the oil cooler if he has an M20. Definitely doable.

I ran a cooler on my 85 325e to i back in the day. It should fit with minor modification. The valance will be hidden behind the M tech 1 spoiler anyway.

Try a little harder with searches and you'll be amazed.. I posted all the instructions and realoem part number I could find on the newest mtech1 thread.
