Gauging $25 Seat Shock Interest
I’ve been in contact with a gas shock manufacturer in Europe to make replacements for the three or four shocks in the sport and comfort seats. I couldn’t find an OEM shock under $53, and I couldn’t find a US manufacturer that had a shock with the same dimensions and force as the original.
I received a sample set on Friday and installed them yesterday. They work perfectly! The new shocks offer the same range of motion as the originals. The only difference is the new shocks are a slightly longer, the tube’s diameter slightly smaller, and they have 400 newtons of force instead of 350 or 500 of the old ones. I may be able to get them at 500 newtons.
If there is enough interest I can get the price down to $20 to $25 per shock to sell through eBay, or my own website with PayPal.
The attached form has pictures comparing the original Lift-O-Mat shocks that were made in West Germay and the new ones, as well as pictures of the shocks installed.
The new shock will replace these parts:
52-10-1-965-645 gas spring for comfort and sport seat lift
52-10-1-965-646 gas spring for comfort seat backrest
52-10-1-965-632 gas spring for sport seat backrest
