anyone tried Standox paint and its matching capabilities? I think its made by dupont?

also, can automotive paint be applied via a brush application for touch up purposes (ie rock chips)?

Don't get me wrong ppg is not all bad but there are so many new colors which they just can't right. I primarly paint brand new rent a cars and the colors some of them have are tricky, like fords candy red and gm's crystal claret. They are both 3 stage paints and ppg offers about 15 variants of each and none seem to match so I always have to create my own formulas.

From what u said about cromax, it seems very similiar to ppg.

Ps. A blow dryer is my best friend.

I have used envirobase from Ppg and it's alright but yes, colors aren't always the best match. I am currently certified to use solvent based DuPont (chroma premier) and Sikkens (autobase plus) . I have used solvent based Ppg (dbc) for a short time. I can also help anyone how has trouble with anything dealing with auto paint. I am very technical when it comes to this, so I will give out specific details on any question asked.

I'm looking to paint my sterling metallic and I was wondering what would be the best cost effective and speedy spray?
I'm hearing a bunch on lacquer for dry time and easy lay.

I plan on painting in my garage but I don't wan't to the odors to be too strong.

^Any paint you decide to use for your car will contain strong fumes and will need alot of ventilation. on the cost effective speedy spray thing, I recommend to stay within the family of big coating companies such as DuPont, Ppg, Sikkens. I would personally go for lesonal or shop-line materials. They give the best bang for the buck. Anywhere out of this will not give you the best results. I hope this was helpful info

The thing with laquer is that it has a super soft finish, in addition if u ever plan on respraying the car with durable paint like enamel or urethane, you will need to strip the lacquer paint off otherwise you will have adhession issues

i would not recommend painting your car in the garage, it would probably be best if you did your own pre, took of all the trim yourself and took it to a shop to have them shoot it. that way there is no dirt or reaction in the paint

lol yes. my body shop showed me all of Mazda's Velocity Reds. There are about 10 different shades. im like wtffuuuuuuu.

New valence, bumper could be saved, bumper shock Is Prolly
toast and looks like your fenders are tweaked a bit. Your looking at a front end repspray for best results

I'd imagine for smaller projects that are plastic in nature, I'd imagine this would do the job just fine, especially if I'm trying to match a car that's single stage paint.

thats right, if you are doing somehting small its no issue at all, its when you start getting on to large panels when you start to have issues.
metallic colors would be a bit difficutl since you can lay them down evenly with a spray can but if it is a single stage paint it is most likely going to be solid.
to answer your question , yes if you want to spray a small part with like a lip, mirror, air duct etx. it should look great with a aerosol can

interesting... but does PSI pressure of a spray gun vs a spray can affect durability, adhesion?

so what process would you recommend if I want to paint on an already painted ABS lip that has the following paint history:

painted silver (I want to change it to single stage black)
resprayed twice
has a base and clear

Don't know if you can answer this but one of my strut towers is out of line. Is it cheap, easier, better to get it straitened with a bear chassie apposed to a fully dressed car?
