    Gauging interest for rebuilt brake calipers

    Hey guys, I’m rebuilding my 325’s front and rear brake calipers, and was wondering if anyone was interested in doing the same. If sufficient interest is generated, this will be done on a core basis, I will always keep 1 full set in stock rebuilt so I can send out instantly. Prices will vary weather you are sending me girling or ate calipers, but I imagine pricing will be about $120 per set. Lemme know what you guys think, any questions or comments are welcome.

    Calipers Disassembled
    Calipers and Carriers Sandblasted
    Calipers and Carriers Powder coated (Silver, Black, or Red)
    Calipers Re-Assembled
    All Seals Replaced
    Dust Cover Replaced
    Sealant Applied to Bleeder
    Anti-squeal Applied to Piston
    Any Attached Hardware Cleaned in ultrasonic parts wash

    You can buy rebuilt calipers for 45 shipped. So it would be a waste.

      oh wow, not bad. Happen to know where? The rebuild kits for these are a bit pricey, so I'd be curious as to how they're keeping prices down.

          my 87 comes up to $40/per front caliper, $45/per rear. This gives me a total of $175.74, without powder coating. Maybe they're offering something I'm not, but it appears I have the better value.

            all that work for $120 is a steal.
            You should specify where you're getting the seals, the way cheap rebuilder places keep prices low is by using crappy rubber components and hardware, i'd rather reuse a stock part than use crappy new rubber that's gonna wear out

              My Rebuild Kits were $15 Bucks for Local AutoParts store, but I'm not trying to discredit your work. Shipping is the killer part :) Unless you're saying Standard Shipping included haha.

                In your first post you say 120 per set. I would take that as 2? So 120 X 2 sets is 240.
                Does that 240 included shipping to you and back or just shipping back?
                I used all 4 calipers on my old 318 from fap and I didnt have a single problem with them leaking or anyting like that.

                    By set I mean 4. I have done a few rebuilds before, and as long as your systematic about it, it doesn't take very long, so I'm not looking to make a killing on it. This price is still an estimate for now as I'm only guessing how much powder will be used. When I complete mine I'll accurately weigh the hopper before and after, and get a more accurate price for you guys. Shipping is not being factored in, but these will most likely fit in a usps flat rate box.

                      $15x4= $60, plus $6 for each nipple dust cover brings us to $84. Add my time, my powder, my sand, my electricity. I don't really see how you're discrediting my work, especially because chances are the ones you got for $15 were aftermarket, I plan to only use OEM.

                        the $6 dollar nipple dust cover is a waste in my opinion. i just used standard covers and saved a ton of money. they also seal better in my opinion.

                        all in all, you offer a good price. i would pay 120 for this service no problem. i spent more than that just getting my calipers de-rusted and new hardware. i still had to powder and assemble myself.

                          Only reason I'm quoting them in there is because bimmerworld sells the nipple + cover for $6, and I know mine were stripped to hell from the guy before me that apparently didn't own any metric wrenches. Last thing I want to do is sell people this shiny new looking caliper with a rusted stripped bleeder attached.

                          Also Speed Bleeders with caps are only a dollar fifty more, so those could definitely be worked into there. Alternatively I could rent out my Motive brake bleeder, at an additional cost.

                              yeah i got new bleeders for sure, most 20 year old ones are stripped to shit. except i used a standard rubber cap which is probably a few cents vs the 6$ oem one. the difference is that it doesnt hold when off, no big deal for me.
