    Skid Plate gb

I destroyed my oil pan and had to spend 299.87 (got lucky it was in Mexico so I didn't have to wait a month) to get a new BMW pan and 850 pesos for the labor! (70.00) beats the hell out of the 275 & 550 I was raped for in May in LA. point here is I don't want to replace another so I went to a welder and got a quote of 500.00 - 600.00 Pesos (45-55) bux! to have skidplates made if I had 5 or more done after fabrication costs.

I am willing to pay the fee for fabbing the first one (about 2000.00 pesos) I thought I could share the protection.

The final cost would be whatever it ends up being plus shipping from Laredo Texas.

Once I see pics of the finished product, and get more details about materials, fitment, etc, I would DEFINITELY be interested. Keep us posted.

I'm interested. But you'll have to get a better estimate of actual cost + maybe some pics of the finished product to get firm buyers.

      Thx,
      Bret.

Clearly you guys need to see it before I put it on and after I put it on. He is working on it starting tomorrow and I will be on the road to Laredo all day tomorrow. When I get back and am Human again on Saturday hopefully I will have it and will take pictures of it. We are working off pictures of an OEM part and I asked him to make it as close to that as possible.

Mine will be for a cabriolet which does not have the tabs to connect to the front like the OEM
But he said making it tabbed for non cabrios is no problem.

Here is one of the pictures I am going off of (found it on the web)

How is he going to get the mesurements since there are 3 different types of skidpads :?

I seem to remember there being a debate as to whether or not they were different for pre-88 and post-88 cars or not. I honestly don't know, but as I said before, pending all this info calrified, I am IN.

I asked the parts guy at the dealer to get me the dimensions of the different pn's I came up with:

                51 71 1 929 451 - non-M up to 9/87

                51 71 1 971 001 - non-M from 9/87

                51 71 1 961 905 - M3

                51 71 1 943 101 - iX

He said he will try. any help there from you guys would be much appreciated.

great! If all the wholes will line up with the factory mounting points then count me in.
Thanks for the great deal :D

interested, but basically dependant on shipping (Big and heavy does not do well with air shipping)

I'm definitely interested. That e34 oil pan hangs awefully low.

not related to the main topic, but mexico rules all, final toll for my gigantic amount of body work on my truck + paint= $1800, and the body work was not only blending the b pilar, there were lots of little surprises in my $200 eta  , i miss that thing it was badass, it didnt run, but none the less, who doesnt love a bolted down eta block with a loose head and throttle body?? not to mention more rust than all of san diego has ever seen, come to think of it, i cant think of one piece of that car that wasnt bad and in need of replacement, it was rediculous
