Massive - Two-piece rotors for the 280x22mm kit

Following several requests to come up with a performance-oriented two-piece rotor for the 280x22mm Street kit, I will have available by mid April an updated version of the kit. Basically, the same brackets and calipers are used, but the one-piece Corrado rotor is replaced by a two-piece slotted Heavy Duty rotor and anodized aluminum hat. I will have my own rotors made to my specs, but they will also be available from Wilwood - 160-584 - 160-10358 - at a higher cost. I am currently having my own custom rotors upgraded to include directional vanes for improved cooling, and thick wall casting for better endurance to heat.

The rotor assembly will be a direct replacement for the VW Corrado disc, with the proper hat thickness that doesn't required a thin spacer, and with the setscrew at the proper location. The rotor/hat combo can be retrofitted to the previous generation of kits.

This kit offers tons of clearance for difficult wheels such as the 15" BBS RS. The outer face of the rotor is recessed 20mm inward of the hat's face. Download the fitment template here - http://massivebrakes.com/files/profi...ont_280_22.pdf or check the fitment thread on R3V here - http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/show...11#post1447811

As usual, I have a pre-delivery promotional offer.
    Pre-delivery price with BP20 pads - $899usd on pre-orders
Regular price with BP20 pads - $999.00 usd

Original version of the kit with one-piece rotors still available for $750usd w/BP20 pads

The two-piece rotor is compatible with the RX7 caliper conversion. So, I will have a promotional offer for rotors/hats alone.

I might be interested in just the rotors.... depending on cost.

Just the rotors, or with hats? ;-)

I shall have my final quote for the rotors-only by the end of the week. The good thing is that the two-piece units will also fit people who have embarked the RX7 swap. That new product has the same annulus as the original Corrado disc. So if the RX7 caliper works with it, it'll work with that two-piece design.

Interested in pricing for rotors and hats as well. I got the street kit from you last summer so when it comes time to replace my rotors, i'll get these instead.

So the "kit" for 899 includes the bracket and the small wilwood clipers yeah?
just looking to make sure I read that right.

I didnt see on the site a listing for the larger Sport 300mm free floating kit. Is that still in the works? Seems like you dont have any of the new stuff on your site as of 03/16/10. I could be wrong. Been known to happen.

Everyone. No need to send any money yet. I will only start accepting payment, when I get a very firm production timeline. I will make plenty of hats and rotors.

The idea in that two-piece disc is to keep weight the same as a one-piece rotor, but to increase the duty and performance by having a lighter hat to balance the beefier disc. I am sure I can even come up with a lighter weight despite the heavier duty. Most likely, the rotors will be cut from the same type of stock as the 11.75" x0.81" HD disc with directional vannes I use on the Sport kit.

And honestly, I am toying with the idea of offering two grades of discs: light duty for street driven cars, and heavy duty for tracked cars, at different prices obviously. Hmmm... What do you think guys?

I like darn picky customers. They are the ones who want better parts and no nonsense. ;-) So, yes, to answer your question about the website, it shows the current kit, not the new optional two-piece disc.

Also, the newer 300x32mm free-floating disc is soon to be available. I have pre-sold a few sets. Production of hats has started 3 weeks and should be in with a week or two. I deal with three different CNC shops and there's a line-up at each...

Actually, I got prices for two grades of discs.
Light duty with straight vanes, and heavy duty with directional vanes. The price difference makes it not worth it going into the lighter duty stuff.

Basically, rotors will be only the heavy duty blanks with directional cooling vanes, while the only option will be the slotting. If you fear glazing your pads from only driving on the street and not applying much pressure (hence the pad being polished), then I suggest the slotted ones. If you track, then get the blank units. There's no outgazing on pads, and the slots will grate your pads faster.

The blank heavy duty rotors with be $85usd each (same price as Wilwood's 160-5840 for light duty discs w/ straight vanes) while the slotted discs will $100.00usd ($15 cheaper than Wilwood's 160-10358 slotted light duty). And yet, all you get from Wilwood are light duty discs.

Expect an intro price of $399.00usd for hat/rotors combos
                            Regular price at $449.00.

RacingBrake sells theirs for $520.00/set and you still have to modify the hat.

Intro prices will last until Monday April 6th.

Thanks for making these lee. They look like a great product. You should advertise them on vwvortex as well. The corrado rotors are an upgrade for most 4-lug vws.
