I paid $65 each for the re-valve. I only did this because i picked up a pair of used ones for cheap. Its probably not worth doing it to a new pair now that Koni offers the SA inserts for the IX again. I'm a Bilstein guy. Never had any problems with Bilsteins and most of my friends have not had any problems. I don't have any first hand experience with Koni but my friends have and several of them had to send them in to be rebuilt. I would never buy a used Koni because the cost of a re-valve/rebuild is double the cost of Bilstein. Get them new for the warranty. I passed on a pair of Konis for $60 because they wanted over $100 per strut plus parts for a rebuild.

Great work Nigel. Interesting idea on shortening the e30 sport stand tube to use with the ix insert to avoid running a spacer. I might do this as i am in the same boat. My ix inserts are currently down at bilstein.

I called to check up and they said they will be shipping out by the end of the month.

And for those of you thinking about sectioning your strut tubes this is how i do it. I had 25 sets of weld on stainless steel collars made for those who are interested in going the same route.

The strut looks different then anyone i've ever cut up before. Although i could be mistaken cause i've been dealing with m3s lately.

After cutting off the dust shield i ground down the factory weld and cut the tube 2" below that. I then cut it again at the bottom of where the factory weld ended. I use a pipe cutter to get a perfect cut.

Then i used the tool i made to perfectly weld the two pieces together straight as an arrow.

Finally busted out the ix inserts i had re-valved a year ago. I used stock i insert sleeves and shortened them 2 inches. That way i get maximum travel and no spacers. With a 6" spring it sits perfectly on the adjuster with out play when its at the maximum height. The car tucks 235/45/17s tires at the highest setting. Shortened i sleeve on the left. Regular ix sleeve on the right.

Hoping you get more in soon cause I need these in my life. I've been hunting for a coilover set up that doesn't require cutting up & welding in like BC's.

I offer any spring available in the hypercoil catalog. I only have the custom springs in the one rate.
