I know I have beaten it to death, as have many others.
This deck really needs to be used with amplifiers.
It can run speakers directly, but 4 ohms/channel is a hell of a load for this deck. It WILL get hot, it will not live as long as it should.
How I would do this deck makes things really simple. Use a 4 channel for the mids and highs, with a sub amp. Make sure the 4 channel has 6 RCA's, with the other 2 being a "summed" output. Make sure that the sub amp has a gain knob to install on the dash.
Find 4 female RCAs. Whether you cut off 4 ends of a pair of Y cords or just buy female ends...whatever, just get some.
Solder the speaker positive of the deck to the center pin of the RCA.
Solder the chassis ground to the outer shield.
Leave the speaker negative disconnected completely.
Run those 4 RCAs to your 4 channel, run a pair of RCAs to the sub amp.
Done.
There are seperate remote and power antenna wires, so you will have the antenna down when you are not listening to radio.
I just wish I were ready to get one now...this is a hell of a deal!

this is a pretty good explanation. only thing that is unclear still for me is, for the RCA's, would the chassis ground that already exists have to be split off x4, one for each rca? second, the sub amp would be getting its RCA from the 4channel amps "out" rca connection correct? thanks for explaining this Luke.I know I have beaten it to death, as have many others.

so the stock amp wouldn't take any of the load off the deck? Here's another stupid question. I have no sub. why do i need a sub amp. i though amps just boost the sound quality. are there amps that do it all? where do you guys stick your amps?Originally posted by Hawt drift chickYeah, i'm a good dude i swear, i just like to be balls to the wall.Comment

You could easily run this deck into the stock 4 channel amp found in your late E30.
You do not HAVE to run a sub, but INHO, a subwoofers' job is to take the strain off of the mids and tweets.Comment
