Baaahahahaha...that would be cool, but if you already have cloth, you should be fine.
Is your padding jute or foam? If foam, is it as thin as an M3?
I am shipping a template to make a basic "Pretty Panel" and enough matching trunk liner carpet to upholster it.
You go buy a chunk (1/4 sheet) of either 1/4" or 1/8" masonite (pegboard without holes, basically) AKA "Tempered Hardboard", cut out and trace the included template to it and cut out with a jigsaw...since I have no clue how I would ship such a thing.
Pics of that panel shortly.

Still interested in this for sure, I wonder if anyone has a houndstooth seat with an armrest?
Looks great man, will you be covering it in some matching-style carpet? Just wondering.Leave a comment:

eventhough my cabby won't work with this particular install I have to say this man is dedicated to the e30.Leave a comment:

Armrest seats are best, of course. You will lose some of the midbass using a solid seat, but only about 25% of the upper bass/midbass area.
Low bass will be very impressive, even with a cheap woofer and tiny amp.
Big fat boom only needs a $150 woofer and a $250 amp...in fact, if someone wants one, i have an Exile "Shift" series SVC 12 (retail $150) and a 300.2 amp (retail $250) and I will sell both for $325 shipped...both are new, with full factory warranty.

So do we need the center-armrest seats to work with these? actually come to think of it, my amp is mounted on the seatback right where the sub is supposed to fire........shit.Leave a comment:

OK Guys, here are a few pictures:
Me, with the evil tinsnips in hand:

Yes, that fridge is older than you...and yes, that is a hot dog cooking machine.
My fat ass in my GF's car, cutting holes:

Skoobeesnaks' almost completed box, with recessed woofer mounting:

The box I originally built for him, now a "test mule", shows port tube holes:

Port tube adapter: Fits "Premium Sound" perfectly...might have to be screwed down, but I am trying to make it press fit:

errr...crap. I went to measure, and I forgot about my rear strut brace. That is probably not going to work......Leave a comment:

Sweeet, guys. Building starts shortly. I will have pics of the first one up ASAP.
Run out to your car with a tape measure...measure 12" from the back seat, on the floor.
If you can live with that, that is the 12" version. If you do not have premium sound rear pods, let me know. I can do other stuff, but having a totally stock look is kinda nice.

I would consider an 12" single box, I could easily throw my current JBL in there and get a nice sound improvement i'm sure.Leave a comment:

Hey guys, bumping this back up. Scoobeesnaks box will ship monday, I have pics of the mods necessary to make this work in your car. In a fit of old school, I cut the holes using tin snips, with a 1/4" of "clearancing" with a ball peen. Simple stuff.
I have a second single 12 box ready too, and should be building a couple of 10 boxes shortly. This issue with the 10 box is kind of complex. The stock speaker locations are 33" apart...the box is 35" wide. This means not too much spare room to fit the ports, so the box cannot be easily made narrower. The other issue is that the depth of the top of the 2 cubic foot single 12" box is only 6", so to build a 1.4 cubic foot box is a real challenge, since it needs to be at least 5.5" at the top to fit the port tubes, plus to make the woofer have adequate depth...well, it is a challenge to build them "small" enough.
If any of you guys might be interested in going over to single 12", I will have pics up shortly.
Thanks for all the interest.

12" version?
Luke,
Would you be able to offer the same box but for a 12" speaker? I have an image dynamics woofer that I really like and since it is already paid for I can't beat the price. Here are the specs for the model I have:
And since I haven't seen any recent updates. Bump.Leave a comment:
