Seriously though, If I spend money on the front valence and get it installed by my guy and it is warped, how do I prove it was defective???? All you are saying to someone who knows e30s and has proof with another vehicle is
    A) not ours
    B) installed wrong.
I find it hard to believe that after building his first car... Jordan isn't qualified to install a simple front valence.
AMS the problem I am seeing right now is this. The products you are selling are cheaper by far than originals, but from the last two gb's I can see why.
You had no clue about the pre drills in the kopis, and right now the only two installs on these front valences I have seen are both warped THE SAME EXACT WAY!
You are sourceing this stuff from overseas I belive or am lead to believe.
Take it from someone who's company both manufactures and sources its products to a huge customer base: figure out the quality and the tooling. If the originals were perfect, then they all need to be. More than not these manufacturers will make a perfect first run and then start to cut corners. in both these gb's this seems to be the case. I would protect your customers. I am going to hold judgement on the front valence until you have better info and pictures.
As far as the rims go I am going to tell my friend who called you two weeks ago to go with anothe manufacturer/ seller.
This is not B/c of Jordan or anyone else, it is B/c you are not showing me that you know your business. If you are sourcing these products, they need to be uniform or you need to warn people before they find the difference.
Just my opinion. I am not here to flame you or argue.
    Yours truly,
    Rich

FYI Schmiedmann is the company that actually sells these "Kopi" "AMS" M-Technic II replica parts, and its not even clear if Schmiedmann does make them inhouse or if they too are just a distributor. Mine and my friends came shipped from AMS with Schmiedmann part numbers/labels on them.

Schmiedmann – Sales of auto spare parts and accessories. Specialized in BMW & MINI we can offer spare parts, styling and tuning, used parts. Schmiedmann offers access to our spareparts store, which hold over 300000 individual products. We carry everything in BMW parts, from clips and bolts to wheels and tyres, spoilers and lights. Workhops should look no further and don't hesitate to contact us, to gain access to products with amazing discounts and the lowest prices!

Also Mel, in the link to the BFc thread you posted on page 1 post 1... you use these 2 photos:

Both of these pictures show a car equipped with Genuine M-Technic II parts, not the replicas you sell. Wouldn't you consider that false advertising?

Also I understand the owner of this car:

May have recently sold it. Does anyone know the new owner? We should have him photograph the valance from the specific angle.

If there was a warpage problem with the 2 front valances, why was it not mentioned to us when the customers received them months ago?
We would have done whatever it took to make the customers happy.
As mentioned earlier-we've sold over 100 of these valances since 2003 and have not had one complaint until now.
If we had received complaints when these 2 customers received their orders many months ago, we would have addressed the problem immediately by contacting the factory in Europe and exchanging the valences.

If you think we are purposely selling inferior products, you are mistaken.

I checked our inventory of front valences today and cannot see any signs of warpage.
The Kopi wheels are made by the same factory we've been buying them from for over 5 years and with the cap attached, they look identical to the first one we sold.
Regarding the wheel hub change on the 17" 4 lug Kopi wheels, we were not made aware of the change until it was brought to our attention on the forum.
The wheels are shipped to us with the center caps attached and we do not remove the caps upon inspection of the wheels before shipping.
The factory did not inform us of the change.

I received mine on Nov 27th 2007, bit shy of many months. Either way being that I bought it brand new second hand I didn't figure I had any ground to stand on trying to return it to you. Not sure when my friend got his. He has had it awhile and didn't notice the warpage until I pointed it out.. now it sticks out like a sore thumb.

            .

I am not on sides but this entire situation can be resolved with a simple picture.
Mel, get a picture of the valance, at the angle of Jordans pictures and that will solve the problem, thats all that needs to happen.

Not positive about the top 2 photos but the bottom one is of our customer David Moffitt's Sepang Bronze Metallic car.
Those are definitely Kopi wheels on the car in the top 2 photos.

Oh.. more denial. "I don't know" he says. Using those photos IS false advertising Mel, as they depict a car wearing OEM M-Technic II parts, sans a standard plastic bumper in the front. Saying you don't know only reinforces what delatlanta1281 said (in my words here) that you don't know what you sell.

So are there any other pics from the angle Jordan described? Do you not have a customer list or Know someone you can check as far as installation is concerned. I
f the reliefs on the rims were a change it is your fault, not the companies. These people make them to YOUR specs no? The rims are evidently NOT to YOUR specs then and it is your fault for not catching it.

As far as a refund goes if it is defective and my guy installes it you are willing to refund price for what? Parts and shipping? But not labor? Your warranty policy is not clear. Do you refund for the part, or the part and labor since it must be "professionally" installed. I know if I tell you it was installed professionally you in turn will ask for documentation to protect yourself. i am asking for the full policy to protect myself and others interested.

See a professional installation tells me that I have to spend more money to put that sucker on. I know I could install an original with no problem... and if I couldn'y my guy could.

Reason you probably haven't had any previous complaints about this is because you have only sold over 100, probably to few to enthusiasts like Jordan. Like Jordan said, his friend didn't even notice until he pointed it out, so what makes that any different than other consumers missing it. Jordan is obviously anal about his cars and that is why this flaw has been noticed.

just my $0.02 worth, hope a resolution is in store.

This is a pretty ridiculous thread. Jordan is stirring a pot. I bought a set of the Euro E30 grills Mel sells a while back. One of them had an issue. I sent him an e-mail, and he immediately sent me a replacement. They look fine and were worth the money.

Do you really think as a vendor it is prudent of him to send e-mails to a customer asking them to take pictures of their cars to defend him on an internet forum? Not worth his time (especially considering who is slinging all the turds here...) and would needlessly alarm his customers.

As for the guy who posted how Jordan built his own car, etc. and how impressed he sounded, I'd say you should look at the car he built. Looks great in pix, but it a pretty sad thing now - it is a veneer of cool covering what looks to be mediocre work. Jordan will claim that the guy he sold it to didn't take car of it (which is probably true) but what I saw was abuse uncovering weak work. Maybe you could say it was good for his first time, but that car wasn't worth half of what he sold it for and is falling apart now in Seattle. No wonder the new owner is cutting his losses. I can say this - if I paid someone money to "build" me a car and I got that, I'd be in court.

I'm sure Terry Sayther would buy Mel a beer and tell him stories...

Back to Mel. Outside of our merry little friend in Mabank (or Houston?), I've only heard positive things about Mel and his business. (I have a little parts business of my own these days, so I'm not doing myself any favors by defending him...). I don't think it is unreasonable at all for him to recommend professional installation. If you get one from him, and it is warped out of the box, I'm betting on Mel to either give you your money back or replace it. I'd let that speak for itself. If he doesn't stand up for you, then hammer him here. Anyone taking all of this second-hand BS from Jordan a mysterious other guy as facts needs to noodle things through a little...

And Mel, to you directly, you're only giving him a stage. I'd take the high road, encourage your customers to contact you with any concerns like you always do, take care of them like you always do and keep on your merry way.
