    Quick FCP Vent

I need 1 particular part in quick time and inquired with FCP before ordering. FCP seems to now be using an AI phone answering service, and if you ask about parts availability it tells you that the employees have no more information than the parts page for customers does (a blatant falsehood).

When I contacted a human through email about the part, they said it would ship out Monday or Tuesday at latest--today is Thursday and nothing yet. Through the email answer they confirmed the AI service is not accurate with information.

I could have ordered through another vendor that actually had the part available and avoided all this wait time that messed up my shop appointment, and yes other vendors had inventory but I threw some other stuff I needed in and used FCP because the site and the AI said it was in stock.

I know inventory systems aren't perfect but this one was annoying.

I don't know if I believe the stock info either. The time to ship always feels like they only order when you do.

i had to escalate everything up over at pelican to get anywhere. it's almost useless talking to the first line customer service folk even when they are real humans. the AI chatbot type aren't even worth wasting text or a call on.

Yea it feels that way to me. They would still get my business with actual lead times but in some instances you need parts asap.

I'm fairly sure the AI phone answering is somewhat new for FCP...I think they used to use people. Just like other companies you just wait for the option to speak to a representative.

Yeah the boost control solenoid I ordered for my Mini that was "in stock" is actually backordered/no ETA. So that's cool.

Edit: I bought the OEM part only because it oddly was $20 cheaper than the Pierburg aftermarket. Their CS just informed me that they covered the difference though, so that's cool.

Edit 2: What's not cool is that they ship UPS by default so I have a $50 brokerage fee on this. Also Tariffs are back on, so I have like $40 of taxes and another $55 of Tariffs, so almost doubled the cost of my order...
