Since you asked I think I'll just at my .02 cents here.

I bought my E30 from Greg in Feb. being new to E30's I was looking for a decent driver but not a project. I came across his add on CL. In his add he was selling the car based on its documented history and the fact that he had done work to it including a clutch, a timing service and some other things and that he was in fact an ASE certified mechanic. I decided to meet with him and check this car out. When I met with him I looked over and drove the car, looked over the records from the past and the records from the work he had done. Being new to E30s but not to cars everything seems ok. The car ran and drove well so I worked out a deal with him and bought it. At the time of the transaction he even handed me a business card in case I needed anything. I left feeling pretty good about it.

Now.. Fast forward to March. I was driving my car and started to hear a noise. the kind of noise that sounds like it could be an issue(not the typical e30 noises lol). I searched and searched but couldnt figure out where it was coming from. It would come and go and I couldnt nail it down. Finally one day I was in my driveway and it started doing it so I dropped everything and dug into it. Removing the distributor I found fine rubber powder all over on the inside of the cover. The next day pulled the radiator, timing cover etc to find the tensioner had came loose and the belt was walking all over the place.

Now, keeping in mind that Greg had stated in his add and to me that he did the timing belt on this car and that he was an "ASE" certified blah blah blah and had in fact even given me his card I sent him a message about and sent him pictures too. He refused to to do anything for me. He wouldnt even come help put it back together. Needless to say the timing belt isnt a hard job but it could have been worse.

He shouldnt sell himself as a mechanic and sell cars based on the work he does to them if he wont stand behind his work. Plain and simple..

Sorry to hear that. He's still very active on the BMWCCA oddly. I've contacted people but haven't had too much luck. I'm clueless when it comes to the BMWCCA. I'd prefer people didn't get bit by Greg anymore as this is a reoccurring theme. He's not ASE last I checked, either.

Also, I did not receive a red label 413 DME. I just recently pulled it again to trouble shoot some issues and found I have a silver label 403. Anything, Greg?

the serperntine belt was cause of a bad tensioner which i replaced. yea there were things wrong with it but i always got whatever was needed done. i figured it was an old car so things like the csb was bound to go out and it did. So i replaced that too. One coil was bad so i fixed it, i dont think it was always limping around. The car idled fine when i put a new coil in. The fuel problem was well before the swap, after the m20 motor me and josh put in there went to shit. Your first car is not going to have never ending problems, its an old car if something goes out you fix it, i cant tell you whats going to go out next.

This is making it sound like i sold you a POS car, but my car was running great when i fixed the problems and when i sold it to you it had no issues.

ur car isnt a pos... looking at his wiring, id say take the "adapter" off and redo it yourself or just make sure that all the wires are intact and connected. there isnt really that much to the swap, so its not hard to look over all of gregs work and check yourself. Why not buy a motor from bavarian auto recycling with a warranty? instead of one from greg that was out of a "babied automatic" or "old ladies car."
