Turbo M50 OBD + ECU Quesetion

I've been researching if I need to convert to OBD2 or if I can stay OBD1 and I have thoroughly confused myself at this point. I've build a 3.0 M50tu and am going to boost it. I was under the impression I could stay OBD1 and just run a standalone ECU, like the Link G4X. Is this incorrect? Do I need to convert to OBD2?

You can just get the g4x. I just installed one in a customer car and took about 3/4 day to get the PCB installed in the stock case, hook up the wide band and fiddle with a few settings. Fired up on the first crank.

If you're OBD1, I agree with the Link E36X PNP ECU that John mentioned. Basically the best thing going right now for PNP ECUs.

Converting harness/ECU/sensors to OBD2, then getting a blow-thru MAF could easily be half the cost of the E36X already, and then you're stuck logging at 12Hz or less and can't live edit. It works for me, but I think choosing the E36X is a no brainer.
