I've never been in one, but are they actually that much faster then a M50?
How badass is an e30 s50?

S52 FTW
but seriously, arguing that there are faster cars is completely pointless. There is always a faster car, no matter what you have. Unless you have the million dollars to buy the newest supercar that does 0-11 billion MPH in 3.5 seconds.Comment

Swing wild, brake later, don't apologize.

haven't you heard? The m30 guys are gussing the m50 just might weigh more than the m30 because of the "added valvetrain parts" these days. Its almost as bad as the NV being a better turbo motor...///Alpinweiß II 24v 91' 318is, Alpinweiß III 99' 323i, 04' Yamaha R6 SE for sale, 00' VW GTi, 83' El Camino BURNED, 01' P71sold, 92' Miatasold

Uh, yah!
Let's see, a NV M50 E30 can be as slow as a E46 330zhp. My stock cammed S50 E30, is quicker than a 997 Carrera S (with 2.93 LSD and 2600# without driver).
I don't know about you, but that is quite the difference.

anyone has input on how a slightly massaged M50/52 compares with a S50/52?.. 'S' motors are hard to buy ..--Hayden--

It's hard to say sometimes. Depending on how an engine is taken care of it can vary in horsepower wildly. For example my friend with an S52 and schrick cams only made 2 more rwhp than me on the same dyno right after I went.
A well kept M50 with M3 cams, full exhaust, chip, etc. should have no problem making 225rwhp.

I'm not quite there yet. Still havn't finished my manifold because of school and work schedule. Only 2.5 runners are done, lol.
Currently as it sits it has a .140 headgasket (so 8.5:1 CR I think?) and running with an un-tuned spark map on my AEM. Raced a Dodge Challenger SRT-8 the other night. Result was that from 75 to about 100-110 mph we were even. After that he began progressively pulling harder.
So still not too bad :)
Can't wait for BOOST! :D

Should be fun. You should do a pull against my car to see how much of difference there really is or at auto-x.Comment

As far as the race with the SRT-8 Challenger: expected!
I've run an SRT-8 300C and Grand Cherokee before on the freeway. I beat the GC when I had my 3.25 gears by almost a car between 65-110. :p
As for the 300C with the 3.46 gears, I pulled 1 CL from 70-95 or so, then we had to slow down for the traffic ahead. :(Check out Undr8d Empire on Facebook: www.facebook.com/Undr8dEmpireLlc
