413 non-red-label. what are my options?

Found out today that my s50 is coming with a non-red-label 413 dme ('95).

I'm not messing with the injectors or afm quite yet.

Is EWS going to be an issue with this one?
    Can I use it as-is?
do I need a chip for it to work?
Whos got the best chips for my application?

Would I be better off finding a red label?

thanks for the help. I've read the dohc thread and made lots of notes. for some reason this stuff isn't in my notes

EWS will be an issue with this one. '95 silver label's have EWS, no doubt.

You could purchase an ealier ECU or get an EWS delete chip. If you were planning on getting a chip anyway, then it's a no-brainer.

Silver label 413 WILL have EWS Silver label 506 ECU will not have EWS... both came with the 95 m3's. Your options consit of getting a 506 or a red 413 or keeping the silver 413 and getting a EWS delete chip. I would lean towards the red413/506 since either of those ECU's will be about the same or less then an EWS delete chip.

As for software... hands down TRM

Just bought a red label for $100. Much better than a $300 chip.

EWS delete chip is $100 the racers market.

              either way, good deal.

Actually, TRM is showing the EWS delete chip for $204.95.

I was recently thinking about the 413 red or silver label discussion. I had kept thinking that I really just needed to concentrate on finding a red label 413 for my future S52 with OBD1 swap...but then I came to the realization that the factory chip in a 413 isn't going to have the correct tune for my application, as it would be suited for an M50.

You are going to pay around $250 for an S52/OBD1 chip in most cases. The silver label 413's seem to sell for half of what red labels do (just from my recent searching) because they have EWS enabled. Seeing as that $250 will get you the proper S52/OBD1 chip with EWS deleted, it makes sense to just go ahead and save money on the silver label 413 DME.

Am I correct on this, or is my lack of sleep taking over? Of course this would only apply to S50/S52 motors-not the M50.

Personally i would rather start with a non EWS platform as it leaves more options in chips and more then likley cheaper in the long run. Plus its just removing one more variable of problems that could happen.

DOH! I should have checked their site first. I did buy MY chip for $100 around September-ish.

What's the difference between the 413 and the 506?? (besides the chip)

Someone said the 506 is more adaptive but i call BS. Im pretty sure the chip is the only difference.

Can't you just clip a wire or something and delete ews?

The EWS wire is pin 66 on the x6000 connector. Solid green wire.
