nearing my wit's end with this car. no joke.

other than a simple dust shield that goes between the block/tranny that is keeping me from mounting tranny/starter/driveshaft - should be fairly simple.

ABSOLUTELY clueless when it comes to hosing for intake mani/throttle bottle/boot/brake booster. Add in the wiring mess and my face goes

seriously ready to pay somebody to finish this. or sell it. FML.

bout to get some obd2 reading in. don't see why I shouldn't be able to find enough info on here if other's have already....

side note: if anybody in the area knows what the hell their doing when it comes to obd2 wiring and hosing and wants to lend a helping hand, i've got cases of beer and food is always just a phone call away. seriously.

I felt this way yesterday. Thankfully the OBD-I vacuum hoses are much more straight forward. But if you get under there and start poking around, the vasy majority of the connectors only have one connection.

Hoping to fire mine up in the next 4-6 days.

I marked most of the connectors, think i'll be ok now that I looked at it a second time. Real confusing there is going to be the harness adaption to e30 body :( For the obd2 hosing I think my buddy just picked up a 328 so I'll check under his hood hopefully tomorrow since real oem wasnt much help. Still going to be difficult since i'll have the obd1 mani.

Hey L, sure. As of earlier today it looked like this...

but some of that is fluff. The manifold isn't bolted down and later I put the harness in, started connecting some connectors. Intake manifold needs the 7 nuts I can't find and the hosing work underneath. Wiring is going to need a harness done - gregslow318i (sp?) believes he can do an obd2 wiring harness adapter properly for me - but I haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Clutch/fw/pp is all ready and torqued down. Need to grab one of those tranny dust shields tomorrow so I can mount the trans/starter/driveshaft. I may need a csb as I believe I used the only good one I had.

Then I need to get the axles off the old trailing arms, and onto the replacement e30 M3 trailing arms. Finally have a thin walled 30mm socket. Gonna try the air gun tomorrow I hope.

Can't find the water pump pulley in the messy garage. So looks like I'll need one of those, the 7 manifold nuts, a dust shield, and a csb. The list never stops growing as you go. Now that I think of it, I'll need to measure for and buy a new belt too, as the OEM one I purchased will be too long for an application with no power steering or a/c.

L, let me know if you have a good winshield wiper motor. Need one of those too as this car's wipers have never worked under my ownership.

Feel like I'm so close, yet so far. I'll get it sorted though - just a matter of time.

BTW, i know it shouldn't be a priority but I'm working on getting a new set of wheels. Hope it works out ;)

If your engine has the top roller next to the alternator, you want a 56" belt if your ditching the p/s.

                you're a saint.

anybody know if the dust shield that goes between the block/tranny can be interchanged between the m20/g260 one or the s52 one? wait time is 7-10 business days from dealer for m20 one, only 2 days for s52 shield. both about $22... and i'm using the m20 starter/flywheel with g260 trans.

my gut thinks i can order it, what say you?

We'll see how that holds up, hopefully in the near future.;) Thats all that comes to mind right now, think that sums it up.

jaja we'll get it. i'm working it out with him. fuse 9 is only for idle speed control for m20.. shouln't even have anything to do with my harness. I'll send you an e-mail shortly.

don't know about the dust shield. my friend used the g260 everything with the g260 on his car if that helps. pm one the 24v getrag guys ;-)

                            you're not kidding.

since last post, i have installed the rear axles and modified the shifter carrier and installed the entire shifter assembly. Tranny is bolted up to the motor, and starter is installed.

tried getting the old csb off the driveshaft so I can install the new one - OMGWTFBBQ?! absolutely ridiculous to remove. Hopefully taking it to a garage or the dealer my buddy works at tomorrow to get it removed and the new one put on. I messed with it forever last night with no luck. Tried my dad's bearing puller but the distance from the bearing to end of splines on driveshaft is too long for the puller claws. Hopefully better luck tomorrow with it.

                            To do's...

-Get csb removed and new one mounted
-Drill holes in modified tranny mount that my buddy didn't do when he made it
                            -fill tranny w/fluid
                            -button up driveshaft/guibo/trannymount
-grease caliper bolts i forgot to grease so brakes dont stick
                            -mount remote brake resevoir/bleed brakes
                            -tighten up slave cyl properly
-harness gets here friday, do all wiring connections
-terminate and run 5 or so wires thru firewall for obd2 connections
                            -vacuum line hosing
                            -coolant hosing
-need a water pump pulley that I can't find (be better organized or dont do your swap over a million months, spread over a few locations)
                            -get proper sized belt drive
                            -tighten down motor mount bolts
-turn motherfuckin key and hear open headers roar

really hoping this weekend is the weekend. been working on it a lot last few days. Took a break today, but will be back on the grind till it's done tomorrow.

If anybody has a water pump pulley they want to sell cheap, I'll pay to overnight or 2-day it if you're not local. Can't be that expensive. $35 for a new one plus shipping? don't think so. at least nope not.

                              Still to do:
                              -tighten up slave cyl properly
                              -fill tranny w/fluid

-vacuum line hosing, done w/exception of brake booster to mani connection. will plug mani and leave booster off for first start
                              -coolant hosing
                              -get proper sized belt drive

-remove o2 sensors from stock mani's
                              -get rest of exhaust mounted
-redo iX booster (remove spacer, shorten rod)
-turn motherfuckin key and hear open headers roar
Goal for today is install the grounds, terminate gas lines, fill motor with fluid, try the first start and see if it runs. **fingers super crossed!!!***

Won't be able to run it long at all, as none of the cooling system is hooked up. Will then start working on the cooling lines, booster, and probably try to fill the tranny if all goes well.

Yes, my to do list got longer even though I took a handful of lines off. Got my work cut out for me.

Good luck mang! I'm about to wake up and go outside and jump the fuel pump relay and see if that is the cause for my no fuel situation.
