How really fast is a S52 or M50 E30...

Seeing posts / threads like these wish more and more I'd just pony up and start the swap sooner than anticipated...I'm still a while out on mine though, haven't even given it serious planned thought, although I know its something that will happen

I pull 1-2 cars on an e46 m3 from just about any speed. At higher speeds they're pretty close, with me on top for sure.

Um yeah. Well, actually after looking at the numbers it doesnt make much sense. Well, mine is faster @ 260 hp/2450 lbs. It's been proven a couple of times anyway.

240 hp/2700 lbs. vs. 333 hp/3400 lbs. <------These numbers are vague and the flywheel horsepower of an OBD-1 S52 with a proper tune should be up a decent bit from that, especially with the hot rod bolt-on's.

Your car is 2450? you weighted it ? what year/model, what did you remove?

E30 '87 325es; S52, euro bumpers, spoilers, cloth door panels and rear seat, vinyl sport drivers seat, no passenger seat at the moment, early carpet, no spare, no A/C, no P/S, no radio or antenna (speakers and iPod for sound), trunk tool kit still present.

Weight without driver and 1/4 tank--

Total: 2455 lbs.

Weight with driver and 1/4 tank--

Total: 2606 lbs.

A little bit more has been done to keep the weight down, but I cant think of it now.

If you set them up with the right hot-rod parts, you can really kick some ass in a straight line. My car never hooked up well, so I rarely ran it from a "launch." My 3.0 18is was 235whp (maybe more towards the end) and weighed 2620#. HP peak was 6500 and almost flat-lined to 7200 (lost maybe 1whp), so it was a real freight train from 4300-7200.

My current 18is is ~135whp. Occasionally I miss the 3.0. :)~

I'm piecing together a swap from some left over parts I have from my e36 turbo build. I'm using m50 block, s52 bore, m52 crank, s50 head, possibly aftermarket cams, vac valve spring kit, vac solid lifters, ported head, 12.1-1 compression, meth injection, knifed crank, ltwfw, and a 3.46 rear. How do you guys think I'll do?

porsche carrera 4s... beat it around the track constantly (some driver influece here), but he could not get any closer to me on the straightaways. that's about the fastest car i've raced... that and a modded lotus exige S with an upgraded aftercooler (stock boost*) and exhaust with no cats beautifly displaying 3 foot flames when braking infront of me. we lapped the same times though. i could neither pull or fall behind from 75-135mph~140

I raced a stock one and pulled almost the same as it. It got maybe a door away from me or so.
