What "bolt ons" bring an s52 to 300hp and what's the cost?

if you can get peak power at 9500rpm or so then you will make those numbers. If you are unable to then you will fall short. -
Do you have anything constructive or useful to add to the internet at all?
And yes, I do know the difference, it was a bit of rhetoric. Also, I never said I built the engine, just the car. It was a 95m3 with a Euro S50B32 swap, with Koala Motorsport euro race diff, moton clubsports, BBS RGRs in 17x8.5 and 17x9.5 w/ Michelin Pilot Sport Cups, GC sways, and Euro 6-speed trans.
Now you have a small taste of one thing I have done. That was not a hard build in any way, just took time, and money.Last edited by BimmerTim; 10-12-2009, 01:50 PM.Leave a comment:

You've done an excellent job of trolling. Don't know the differences in the motor, yet claim to have built one.Leave a comment:

I can see an us s52 making 300hp. Don't those
things rev out to 10 or something?Leave a comment:

He explained quite concisely why you won't get to that number.
okay, how about this. in order to make your magical 350whp, you're going to need over 100% ve at 9000rpm. the 3.2l crank has an 89.6mm stroke. at 9000rpm, you'll have a mean piston velocity over 26m/s. Even race engines don't go that high. Never mind even the E46 M3 CSL doesn't go over 100% ve, nor anywhere near that high of a redline.Leave a comment:

I've already began gathering parts, and I'm getting quotes for some machining.
Sorry to hear that you and your wife were not well. I understand that sometimes things can get heated pretty quickly, specially on the internet. I'm sure I come off as a dick on some of the other forums I frequent sometimes.I guess this is what I was trying to say, only I sounded like a dick. I was also sick, and taking care of my sick wife, when this thread started. haha.
I love hearing about detailed, ground up engine builds and how it all works together. It's the other way around that I don't like. and I won't take wild claims for granted.
GL on the build, whenever it happens
Maybe the "Mark my words was a bit much", but that is still 100% my goal, and I see no real reason I can't get it, or at least get real close.Leave a comment:

I guess this is what I was trying to say, only I sounded like a dick. I was also sick, and taking care of my sick wife, when this thread started. haha.Yes indeed. I don't doubt someone can engineer some cool crap to put together a highly tuned S50US. Hog out the ports. Install hot, HOT cams. Increase compression. Install a trick ass valvetrain, larger valves, solid lifters, etc. Design, simulate, and build a tuned intake manifold and custom exhaust collector to have maximum performance at upper engine speeds.
You should have just said this, instead of saying, I'm going to make a 350whp S50US, and to mark your words.
Isn't that the exact kind of pompousness that we should all strive to avoid?

Recap:
You: "I'm going to do something never before done"
Us: "That's basically impossible"
You "But I'm an engineer"
Us: "What else have you accomplished, and how do you plan on doing this?"
You: "Doesn't matter"
Us: "Well then we have no reason to believe you can do this"
You: "You guys are pompous jerks who try to prove they are better then everyone else, instead of supporting ridiculous claims from someone who refuses to back up their experience or ideas, but just wants us to believe them and lick their sac a few times"Leave a comment:

yes, my appologies. I was also trying to take some heat off the op.Yes indeed. I don't doubt someone can engineer some cool crap to put together a highly tuned S50US. Hog out the ports. All I'm going to say for now is stay tuned, cuz it WILL be a pretty rad build.Leave a comment:
