What "bolt ons" bring an s52 to 300hp and what's the cost?

Has the new throttle per cylinder setup been discussed in this thread, yet?

I'm very curious about what this will do for an S52.

Drop car off at shop and write check seems to be the method you may have the most success with.

    This is the reality.

Do you want a grocery spec motor like In my 1998 m3? (S52)

Or a real motorsports motor (s54)

All Up to the goal and limitations of the pocketbook

S52 is definitely simpler but S54 isn't that hard these days and the price I think has come way down from say, 5 years ago.

It has been a while since I looked at this thread. My m20 is a day away from turning 300k and it is very tired. I know where I can get an s52. Is that still the cheapest and easiest way to get some real power, or is the s54 swap well established now? I don't want to be a trail blazer on this. I am looking for something that I can follow the directions and plug it in.

no way it's cheaper. parts for euro S50s are nearly unobtanium here.

$1000 tune? maybe 5 years ago..

S54 still seems like the way to go. Getting parts for the S50B32 here is damn near impossible, and if there is a cost savings in the end you would spend that and more just in trying to maintain it.

S14B25 has 87mm stroke and lotsa revs.

S54 is a warrantied mass production engine so there is obviously room to move

350whp@8000rpm with stock head surely an modified S50 can get close.

Ah, now I see where the 9,500 RPM number came from.
