                Low oil pressure.

The "idiot" light in the dash is set at a REALLY low psi - like if it comes on and you are pushing the engine, say on track, it is too late . . .

A lot of people run a waring light that kicks on at a higher psi.

I think it's 5-6psi for the dash light. I believe my VDO sender turns it on a little earlier, but not much. maybe 8 psi. still not enough to give you a good warning.

7psi for idiot light, jrk asks a valid question, i 've seen race cars using the sun type ones. longacre has one too. i'll probably install the longacre one in the racecar. btw, jrk, have you seen the new baffled sump i'm planning to install?

I've been doing a bit of research on "op". OEM sensor is claimed to be 7.5 PSI new. I bet it wears out wears out as it ages. It a ball and spring arrangement.

Could just get a Oil pressure gauge with warning.

hard to see while racing. typically looking out and ahead. checking gauges on straights only, by then it maybe too late.

I'll be using one of the Autometer bullet style mounts with a sender in the high teens, hopefully.
This light can be hose clamped to the steering column shroud or fixed by a couple of short screws.

I have an AIM Mychron3 I'm setting up over the offseason, with adjustable alarms. I'm not sure what number I will pick yet, but probably just below whatever it idles at, so the light isn't on all the time.

The dash only has a little warning LED, but I'm planning to put something like a trailer lamp next to the dash for my oil pressure, or any other important alarms (ones worth shutting down for) for that matter. And to clarify I have gotten rid of the factory cluster, just have the AIM, boost guage and warning lights in that area, along with a few other guages in the cabin.
