That's why I wanted to discuss this, to hear all opinions.
I don't know what you regard as ricer shit, but I want to delete it for an accurate VDO temp sensor, because I don't believe the crap the cluster temp gauge shows, jumping every time I slam the door. So I can either have a dead temp gauge on the cluster or a dead TB heater, both of which don't have much use for me. Perfect temp information on the other hand will be nice on the track.Comment

so you want to delete the TB heater to fix your temp gauge? How does that make sense?

yep, typical r3v ricer shit. ;)Comment

I hate to tempt the wrath of an all powerful moderator but I have to say think before you speak. Maybe try reading the thread while you're at it too. Deleting the TB heater lines gives you an easy spot to put a coolant temperature sender without drilling and tapping your head, or if you have already drilled and tapped your head gives you 3 places to take coolant temperature readings.

 Another point to ponder:

'splain this to me... my M54 electric throttle bodies don't even have coolant passages.

 BMW evolved away from them?Comment

I fail to see what being a moderator has to do with anything (wrath?).I hate to tempt the wrath of an all powerful moderator but I have to say think before you speak. what exactly is the point of having 3 different places to take coolant temp readings? the only one that really matters is the one the ECU reads.

just pointing out that some of the things people like to do around here are a little bit pointless. if your TB heater is leaking, fine, delete it - I don't care. my point was there's no performance gain here, something that's always brought up in these threads as a possible benefit.Comment

I was kidding about the wrath thing lol. I agree it would be fairly pointless from a power gain standpoint to go through the trouble of deleting it all.I fail to see what being a moderator has to do with anything (wrath?).

The point of having three sensor ports would be for a second coolant temp gauge.

In my case I will be using the port for my gauge sender as the hoses are already missing and capped off.

I didn't install the throttle heating hoses when I did my S52 conversion. I only had two holes in the head though-- one for the DME sensor and one for the throttle body heater output. I opted to remove that for my coolant gauge temp sender. The less hoses the better; it isn't exactly easy to work under the manifold with the engine in the car already. You don't really gain anything, but for the climate here in NC you certainly don't lose benefits either.Comment
