Why don't you want to you use the temp switch to control the fan? Get the 80/88 deg temp switch paired with an 80deg themostat, this is what I have and it works great. Then you don't have to worry about remembering to push a button and risk overheating.

If you want to run two speeds you can order the resistor and just wire it in yourself.

I'd like to run the switch on the radiator but the plug fell apart, and i've read thru 2 bentleys i can't find which wire goes to which pin, so i figured i'd just run the spal, i shoulda left the stock fan in :(.

what if i want it to run on high speed when i push it? what do i need to do?

        My favorite diagram

        The conn

The wires, Brown is body side, Black is SPAL side

Mine works when I press the ac button

All this leads me to believe that the fan or relays maybe faulty? You connected the blue one from the fan to the black on the plug?

it's entirely possible you fucked shit up when you shorted the wires.

check fuse 3, depending on the size of your fan, you probably blew it by hooking the black wire to your fan with the resistor missing. If you hear your relay clicking when you push the a/c button then they it's working fine.

Alright that fuckin fan is possesed or something.

Today i noticed that the number 3 fuse is blown so i put a new one in. Then i hooked the black wire off the plug to the red on the fan and ground to black. Worked fine then it popped the fuse again, so i put a bigger fuse in. Well then it melted the wires i used to make the harness reach the fan. I did use smaller wires than what was on it, but did i hook the high speed wire to the wrong? It shouldn't be i mean it's either the black or red wire for low or high circuit?

                  wtf is goin on lol?

What did you do with the 3rd wire? Cap it off?

Well did the fan come on at all or did the fuse pop as soon as you gave it power? Do you have a voltmeter? It sounds like the wire may have rubbed through somewhere and is shorting to ground. I would definitely say use the same size wire. I hooked mine up today, used the existing plug from the AUX fan and just put spade connectors on the ends to plug into the fan. Worked like a charm. Brown is ground, black is low, red is high. I don't have a resistor in mine and it hasn't blown the fuse yet. Comes on with the temp switch and with the A/C button.

P.S. Look on your fan and see what the Amperage rating is. Mine only draws 8 amps according to the info it came with. I'm using a Proform 16" Universal.

It came on and then popped the fuse. Did you hook up both black and red to the power on the fan, or just one of them?

I only hooked up the black. It is the low speed/aux A/C power wire. I forget the temp off the top of my head but if you look back at the diagram posted earlier it shows it. It can be powered either through the A/C switch or the low of the two temp settings in the fan switch on the radiator. Unless you have a two speed fan you can really only use one or the other. If you want to be able to run it on with the button inside, use the black wire as your supply and the brown as the ground. Cap off the red(high speed) so it doesn't ground out on anything.

The low speed really needs to run through a resistor, that feed is not rated for max output current.

Cheap solution: Connect the black and black/brown wires together at the temp switch. Then connect the red and black wires together for your positive, and brown for your negative.

Well I figure it has a 15A fuse, my fan only draws 8 amps, it should be ok. I did check the amperage draw with my DMM also before doing it this way and deciding to leave it.
