also, straight 3" with no cat and a glasspack is going to be pointlessly loud, with no benefit. add 2 mufflers and a cat, it will flow plenty and not be annoying.

Found this thread a long time ago when I was poking around for exhausts. Might help you.

I have the same setup on my DD with 2.5, I honestly love the low rasp. It is not annoying at all, sounds a bit meaner then my friends E46 M3. So I think the 3" on the M50 will be nicer then the 2.5 on the m20.

But that will be tackled in the summer time, I have yet to buy the straight pipe for it. So I will see if I can get dual 3" all the way back with how low I am going.

If I don't like I will weld on a proper SS exhaust. Not hard to cut back and install one. I am on the phone right now with Magnaflow, so we will see what they have in 3" inlet.

the only 3" in/dual out mufflers have really wide spacing on the dual out. Not really good for a final rear muffler.

              you could do vibrant instead

I love dual tips and vibrant makes some nice stuff, but nothing really in dual in or outlet. I really cannot find what I have in mind. I LOVE the Remus dual design, but they only go up to 2.50 and no dual inlet. So I am leaning towards making my own.

Edit: Just got off the phone with my friend at Magnaflow, we talked over my setup plans and I am going 2.5 dual in and outlet. So I am running dual 2.5 piping from headers back no cats to a duel in/outlet muffler.

that's ginourmous. that's like a single 4" exhaust. all you're doing is adding a bunch of weight so you can have 2 tips instead of one..

What is the point of having dual piping all the way back and then use a single inlet/outlet exhaust? The exhaust looks like the one I posted on the last page aka 14816. I changed my mind on the dual 3" piping all the way back. It makes it clean going down to 2.5 since my headers are 2.5 outlet. Also opens up more options and I did not like how spaced the 3" outlet was. The 2.5 is really clean and straight through the body with no restrictions.

there is no point - run single 3" or 2.5" piping all the way back. Dual 3" is hilarious! are you pushing 1000hp or something? ;)

                            "duel" haha

dude, there are plenty of people running way more power than you ever will on exhausts much smaller than dual 2.5". I'm thinking Donovan specifically. He was running *maybe* single 4", on a car that ran 8's.

Yup, I have a goal for the M50/turbo but I know I am not going to be anywhere 8s or close to that. I am aiming to beat my friends STi.

I just think the 2.5 duel with equal pipes to a X pipe will pull the exhaust out better and increase performance. That is why I am going for dual piping.

if you have a turbo, things like an X pipe are totally pointless. The pulses already merge at the turbo. And anyway a single pipe with a Y is just as effective, lighter, and cheaper.

I conclude that you have NFC, but I'm willing to help if you're willing to listen. ;)
