Did a track event last week, and heard an m20 w/ headers running a straight pipe( no cat) from headers into a magnaflow single in/out muffler....3 inch system. It sounded just amazing. May be a bit much for a DD tho.

Im not saying 3 inch is the best size for an m20 ..but still...wow.

add another muffler and a cat, it becomes quiet enough to be streetable.

but why add all that?...its really not needed. Why build a custom set up full of mufflers?.

I ran an m20 w/ hi flow MF cat and a borla turbo rear in a 2.5 single system. it was fine...sedate. , until wot........I now run same system on an s50..ditto.

why not? I don't want a loud exhaust. I'm in my 30s with two kids. I had a loud car when I was 19, it sucked.

intake sounds are much, much nicer than exhaust. especially BMW 6s, which mostly sound like ass anyway.

stock is restrictive and heavy. My engine isn't stock. and it's about to get a whole lot less stock. :)

3" with adequate muffling is high flow, lightweight and quiet. perfect :)

Hey Nando, what would you recommend as a centre muffler on a 3" system to quieten down an s52?

I currently have a resonator and straight through muffler and no cat installed and the drone gets to me a bit.

interested in this as well, putting together an exhaust system similar to this and I was wondering the same thing!
