subscribed. i'm having this exact same problem. I have tried almost everything. Having a friend come over this weekend with another red label ECU ( i have red label 413 also right now) to see if mine is bad. If thats not the problem then im at the point where i am going to get a new harness and start over.
Please help!!! Experienced swap guys only!!!!

go through and double check all sensors are hooked up properly! specifically cam position sensor, and crank position sensor
its easy to mix some of them up, i did it the first time i put my harness back on... but i just got a plume of white smoke when i turned the key...lulz
Also, make sure all your grounds and power wires are hooked up, its just as easy to miss a red wire in the battery box area...Last edited by MattM; 08-30-2011, 09:33 PM.Comment

Are all the wires connected to the junction on the firewall? all the grounds including the chassis ground on the passenger side?
what did the 413 come out of? if it's out of a 325, i wonder if you need a chip burned for the m3 motor?Comment

There needs to be an EPROM chip in the DME. What you are confusing is whether or not it has to be a chip with EWS removed.

It would crank forever but yeah never fire. Crank position sensor also causes this symptom.

the DME has never been opened. and the eprom chip is still there. all the sensors, ecu and harness came from the same car. i jusr read this thread, and post #78 sounds like it might solve my problem, but they are talking about a pre-88 e30. http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/show...36#post1216936
