Still messing with this. I've been looking at this ETM, and I have not found the abs relay.

    The abs worked before swap.

On a side note, my stomp test isnt working now...geez!

You can also pull power from the monster splice of red/white wires in the main harness. That's how I have mine done. (note: if you pull it from the all red splice, ABS will be unswitched and will drain your battery every 24 hours or so.)

Are you talking about the starter cable? I used the e30 cable instead of the e36 stuff.

no, he means use one of the red/white wires in the plastic harness cover thing.

Late cars dont have a relay.. If yours had a relay, it wouldnt have a pin 20 and the c101 wouldnt affect abs anyway.

Skip the hacks. 6 to 20. Done.

ABS relay is located above the ABS computer. Silver 5pin. Open it up

like I said, late cars don't have an ABS relay. His car could be on the cusp, but I suspect it doesn't have it either. the ETK isn't helpful in this case, I looked it up and it still lists the part # for the relay on my car. the ETM for '90 shows it doesn't exist but I have no idea if they switched the wiring at the end of the year, sometime in the beginning, or sometime in late '89.

edit: another look at some different wiring diagrams, it lists the change happening in mid '89. if pin 6 to pin 20 isn't working, something else is wrong. Try checking for voltage at pin 6 and check fuse 9.

My 2/89 car does NOT have the relay. Drove me nuts for a bit figuring that out.

Find the red/yellow wire going into the ABS pump. If it doesnt have 12v switched on then give it 12v switched on.

This is how I wound up doing it last night . I just spliced into a red/white wire and connected it to the black/violet wire on the X20 (not used for the swap) and connected that to pin 20 (red/yellow iirc) from the C101. No extra wires and clean install.

Another item check off the "still need to do after swap" list.

Sorry to relive, but could someone tell me where these pins are?
By the fuses or in the glovebox?
