Take some pictures and post them of the oil. Hopefully you do not have a head gasket problem... but the yellowish mixture is not a good sign

Make sure you bled you system properly. e36 radiator with attached bottle?

You need a headgasket my friend, "yellow" oil is a huge no no.
Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

Sometimes condensation on the inside of the valve cover will cause a yellowish film on the oil cap. As long as it is minimal, and the cam tray and dipstick isn't showing any signs of mixed fluid, I wouldn't worry about it.

But then again, you are having an overheating problem.

I also recommend checking the temp with a thermal gun. My temp gauge reads red hot, but the engine is cool as can be.

I can tell you for sure that you got cracked cylinder head. Engine is consuming coolant. This is common problem and weak spot for M5x series engines.

Will a crack head make the car overheat? Does it matter that my oil looks good?

Yes. Crack will be from one of the water passages to the intake valve seat, very hard to spot. Oil won't get contaminated.

pull out your oil dip and drip some oil on the hot exhaust manifold, if is sizzle then your oil is mix with water, if it smoke then its just oil.
