I've currently got a a low hanging dinan e36 exhaust fitted to my car and it hangs a little low for my taste. The muffler is also huge for an e30 IMHO.

Borla in the center, Borla at the tail, 3" single. Now, it's fantastic. I've been down a LOT of different configurations in order to get to a point where it's pleasant while cruising (aka 99.8% of the time), but loud enough to enjoy when I'm on it.

Cost isn't that great if you don't essentially end up building three or four exhausts in the pursuit of happiness.

Sounds like a great set up...I actually stumbled across your thread the other day. Don't suppose you've got any sound clips? I've never heard the double borla set up. The borla/vibrant sounds good but I'm thinking it still might be a little loud for my current needs.

I was just lurking around in the F/I section of bimmer forums as I'm considering boosting my S52 and I came across something interesting.

A handful of guys with various turbo BMW's are running the Dynomax VT mufflers with very positive results. These mufflers that contain a little valve that opens up when you get on the throttle. Apparently there is major drone reduction and they're very quiet when idling or cruising.

Most of the guys are simply running a dynomax VT on their free flowing turbo systems, but I have a feeling it would sound great if used in conjunction with a good deep sounding muffler on an N/A 24V application.

I get the feeling people tend to frown upon this valve business but guys are really praising these things.

I realize these cars are boosted but it gives you an idea. Thoughts?

What they haven't said is that over time, the little flap/valve in them gets loose, and starts to rattle constantly. I've known a few people that had them.
