Also to add, I know have rev hang when car is cold. That sounds like a vacuum leak to me. Hooked up a vacuum gauge and it read within spec so not sure if it is a vacuum leak anymore.

I bought a gauge tonight and started to hook it up to the hose connecting the fuel pressure regulator to the bottom of the manifold. It's a bitch of a hose to get loose, and I accidentally pulled off the end connected to the regulator.
So tomorrow I get to remove the strut bar and fuel rail to reconnect the hose...hopefully not the wire harness...God that would suck.

What about using the CCV hose? the smaller one?

I think that's on the PCV side of the system, which should be a different reading right? I'm learning as I go, but I believe you should get 3-5 inHg on the PCV side and 17-22 inHg in the manifold.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I think my culprit is a clogged fuel filter. The reason being the car leans out more and more the higher up I get in the rev-range. It's more of a gradual change so that would hint more towards a fuel related issue rather than something with the ignition/electronic.

I've got a fuel related theory on my car too. I pulled my fuel rail off and I just pushed on an injector to see if it was firmly attached to the rail and the tip "snapped" into place. I found that on 2 more injectors too.
They are rebuilt injectors, so I'm a little upset that they do that, so just to rule that out, I ordered another set.

Hmm, now that you mention it, mine don't sit quite flush either.

Guys I put an E34 harness in to replace my E36 one and my car has been working perfectly fine and amazing ever since. Perfect idle, great gas mileage, no hesitation, nothing, ever. 500 miles since replacing and its perfect. So..........:)

Do you not have the locking clips installed?

Those secure it to the rail, not the manifold iirc

I'm talking about on the injector itself. The plastic tip can "snaps" in and out of place on a few of mine. I'm not sure if it has any affect on it working or not, but it sure doesn't seem right.

Hmm, well a friend of mine drove the car and he described it as the car has lean spots in the powerband, it would make sense, but what's causing it is beyond me. I have a new fuel filter I'm installing tomorrow as well as a new CTS, IAT sensor and intake manifold gaskets.

New Fuel filter didn't do much, although it did help the startup issue I was having, Rev's don't creep up anymore.

I have this same problem with my m20 engine does exactly the same as in the video.

So far i cleaned the maf the bouncing continues but now once the car stops the finds idle instantly. Before it would bounce 2 or 3 times before it found it.

The next thing i noticed is that the intake boot/manifold has a oil like fluid and dirt so im going to clean that out an see what happens. Then moving on to injects/fuel rail/fuel pressure regulator.

Ill let you know how it goes.
