If you keep it, do you remove item #10 and run 15 directly to the TB?
Easiest way to "delete" the throttle body heating is to loop the hoses with a small piece of pipe. #10 can be removed any time as it is just a thermostat which controls coolant flow to keep from heating the throttle body unnecessarily.

Depending on the OP's climate he could either remove one hose and the Thermostat and heat the throttle body all the time, or he could remove the hose and thermostat and loop the 2 remaining hoses to circumvent the TB heating all together.

Delete it. I can't even recall another marque that uses it... the last car I built with a 3 liter duratec did not have it and started/ran perfectly down way past -20 degrees

I haven't had a throttle body heater(on my m20, not m50) all winter since its gasket died and the bolts stripped it. No issues down to -4 F, it didn't get colder than that.

lolcantgrasp a concept that has been proven for decades. Throttle body ice up is a serious issue which can happen at above freezing temperatures.

The heater was added to aid in Cold weather emissions. M42 has a plate like this on the throttlebody as well. Only the US market received it, I don't think we have the lowest temperatures in the US, gets much colder in other parts of the world.

Listen, your throttle body isn't going to freeze anytime soon.

Mine's deleted and I have no problems. We live in Igloos up here in Canada so if I'm not havin a problem yoiu guys won't either.

Lolcantturn let me just clarify the difference between carb icing and TB icing:

-A carburetor actually has a pronounced venturi in it to draw in fuel from the float bowl through the main metering jet, this is what ices up on the airplanes you spoke of.

-A TB is a narrowed part of the intake tract and as such would have a limited venturi effect occuring locally but it isn't anywhere near as strong as that in a carburetor.

Also note that fuel injected aircraft engines have no carb heat. Adrian and trackjunkie know their shit.

i remove the thermostat (No 10) and i connect the No9 with No13
guess what, my thermostat was always open , so i had a nice hot throttle body all time long

Nearly all BMWs from the 80s-90s had it. They started going away with it when they started drastically dropping Engine warm up times as it can typically only happen when the engine/engine bay are cold. M62/TU M52TU+ all dont have it, but also have electronically controlled/augmented thermo's and stuff. But Yes i can see it happening but its never happened to me or anyone i know of or have ever worked on.
