              I just went to an autoshop and they let me borrow their vice.

                I cut the selector rod about 3/4ths of the way through, twisted it fairly easy, and welded it.

                      um.....this isn't that hard to do at all. put two deep sockets on the studs and bend till you get to 10 degrees(give or take). you're bending the studs not "twisting" the selector rod.
