Tired of your tach not going high enough??

    I know I was.

My euro S50 went well off the dial of my 325 cluster. This annoyed me and was inconvenient on the track as far as shift points go.

    Solution... add Stack ST700.

Problem is Stack is too small, dia is 88mm and the OE tach is 100mm.

Queue some acetal bar stock and my high-end CAD drawing.

The only manual lathe we have is imperial, its about 60 years old, so I got to make a few double checks along the way to make sure we're on track still..

    And then the recess...

    great success!

I made two up so I can run a 320km speedo as well (lulz)
    Looks something like this

Had to modify the circuit board too, because I have to cut a whole lot away to fit the Stack, in as its quite deep. This means doing some circuit tracing and running jumper leads around the place...
This will either work or I will cry. I think it will work.

    pretty pleased with it

That's awesome work. An easier solution would be to change the coding plug and have an M3 style gauge face printed out, though.

I lucked out and have an E30M3... my rotor revs freely to 8500 (built to run 9k rpm) so I even run out of room.. nice mod!

I went the expensive route and bought an E30M3 cluster and installed a E28M5 coding plug.

I've thought about doing this too. I'm so fucking tired of glitchy 20 year old e30 clusters always fucking up. Now do the gas and coolant temp gauges too.

Good on the British, nothing like standards.
The Stack speedo is 7mm bigger than a Stack tacho.. obviously!

Anyway here is what the pair looks like

Not exactly OEM - but good work on fitting it. Must have been a PITA.

BTW - How high of a tach do you need?

8.5k should do it, dont think there will be a real need to go much higher.
