O2 sensor, why u no fit!!!!!

I got Ebay stainless ss reps, put them in and bought a new o2 sensor and it doesn't fit in either hole lol.
Anyone else run into this problem?
I will probably go get a new bung welded, and see if I can get a few bucks back from the seller.

Had that problem with my old car. I put the o2 sensor further down where the pipes merged in to one.

Does that affect its readings much? I think it would almost make them a tad better because it reads from all six cylinders instead of 3.
I will be going to an exhaust shop soon to get something figured out.

Yeah, you should be placing the o2 sensor further down the flow path whenever they merge.

it's a heated sensor, so putting it a little further doesn't hurt at all. I'm pretty sure stock it reads from all 6 cylinders anyway.

They probably warped the bung while welding. I keep a sacrificial sensor near my welding desk to avoid this.

You can run an 18mmx1.5 tap through it and it should fit.

I have done all kinds of configurations on o2 placement and experimented with values and as long as you are reading at least a whole bank, the numbers won't be different enough to matter - it was less than .1AFR when comparing all cylinders to a bank, seeing the stock sensor is no where near that accurate, it will work fine.

On dual o2 systems where there's cylinder skewing going on, you need to read each bank and have them hooked up properly, single o2's are a different story.

Wasn't warped, it was just made for an e36 so it doesn't have the clearance towards the body to.fit the length of the sensor.
Glad to hear I can just put it on the collector

Ah. Had a client come in not too long ago with evilbay swap headers and one of the bungs fit the o2, the other was too close to the firewall. He ended up scraping them anyways since they consistently leaked at the head.

The way PO had it and what made the headers and subframe touch

So I put it in the second bung. You have to pull the headers apart a bit for the sensor to thread in straight.

Mine was made by the exhaust shop on my old car. You can also buy Magnaflow/Flowmaster/etc Y-pipes through places like Summit Racing.

Yeah I had kind of thought that most people had the shops do the Y.
Mainly because I wasn't finding much.

the exhaust shop built versions usually aren't terribly efficient. they're going to just weld a couple pipes together in a pretty crude manner, unless you pay a LOT of money for your exhaust..
