    SRS TOPIC IS SRS !!!

I removed my abs because it drives me INSANE in the snow, absolutely hate it.

ABS is cool in panic stops, but honestly I never had it on my sportbike and that's when I needed it the most... can't believe I didn't die.

In a car... well it is what it is, you'll probably be okay but when you crash because of panic you'll be PISSEDDDDDDD

Take chances, drive fast, That's what I do.

i just finished my swap and i left my abs in there and think it looks fine. the whole passenger fender is shaved but i left the abs. i painted my bay and purposely didnt paint the abs because i liked the gold haha. im in no way upset and i set out with intentions to make a show worthy bay. maybe not the level of Jandersons haha but still nice.

Anyone know how the break lines would have to be configured without the ABS?

        Just curious

I deleted it on my Pro3 car (per the rules)

On a racetrack I prefer not having ABS, but the conditions are very different, I know the track i'm driving on, I know the surface, I know the surrounding conditions, etc.

On a street? gravel, oil, leaves, hell a truckload of ball bearings all over the road?!? ABS on the street is the way to go. Dedicated track car? up to you, street, keep it.

^I lost most respect for your swap here. I can shave/delete/remove almost everything "unnecessary" on an e30 in an afternoon but rolling around in a shiny shitbox sweating like a pig completely worn out as I roll into a show 400 miles from home in the middle of summer isn't my idea of fun.

Main concern is that it would hurt it when i go to sell the car.
"Should I delete the ABS?" is not a question that should really be asked on a street car, if it's working just leave it be. Should you screw up and rear end someone you best hope that their attorney doesn't find a thread like this to bring into court to prove just how negligent you were when you removed the ABS from your vehicle so it would look better.

              that's a little harsh.

I'm not one to remove a perfectly working system "because racecar", but I can honestly say when I had AC, I might have used it once or twice a year. was it nice to have? sure! do I miss it at all, the 99.999% of the time when I don't need it? not really. It was a pretty decent weight savings too.

My cruise control does function, but I never use it. I probably won't keep it for other reasons, but if I didn't have it I would never miss it. I don't do enough long stretches of highway driving for it to matter.

I'll take being harsh I guess, I've swapped plenty of street cars and kept nearly everything functional, so I guess I see the "delete because racecar/cosmetics" crew as lazy or incompetent. On some things such as A/C I guess it's just personal preference but neither is acceptable when it comes to safety systems in a street vehicle.

just curious , what about all the cars without abs ? are they doomed death traps as well ? I daily a 4 door sedan that has no abs from factory .... almost rear ended someone the first week I got because they stopped dead at a roundabout , but having no abs was fine I just adjusted and steered etc , who slams straight on the brakes anyways ??? u should steer and avoid the car instead of mashing your brakes

you think abs is goin to save you rear ending someone if all you plan to do is stomp the brakes ? ya u can turn too but what kind of habit is turning and smashing the brakes ?

Nope. His seat belt isn't gonna do jack for the baby he hits.

To be fair, you live in Washington. 100° days with 90% humidity aren't exactly the norm up there. I think your response would be very different if you lived in the South.

exactly my point. calling somebody out for removing AC is pretty extreme, considering different locations and climate.

if I lived in Texas or Arizona, I'm sure I'd want to have it.

I actually deleted mine, and I'm in Phoenix. I don't regret doing it, but I also don't have to drive it everyday if I don't want to sweat. As a matter of fact, Bilstein has managed to keep me from driving the car the the last six weeks anyhow. The impression I get is they'll keep me from driving my car all summer.

To keep this on topic, I did delete my cruise control and did not delete my ABS.

OP- asked if deleting the ABS would hurt when reselling the car. From what I've seen swaps with everything still there and working generally sell for more than ones with removed components, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out it's more expensive to properly put components back in than it was to remove them.

If someone asked me to PPI an e30 with the PS, A/C, and ABS removed and wasn't specifically shopping for a track car I'd likely advise them to find different car. The Black on Black M3 in my garage ATM is out $$$$ trying to un-delete the A/C that the PO removed. He thought he got a deal on the car but the "little things" that he overlooked are adding up much quicker than he thought they would.
