can you take pictures of your wiring job? Did you hook up the red power wires to the dist block and the brown ground straps to the shock tower?

    Status: HG repair. 488wtq though!

Yeah, I've got the ground straps bolted to the shock tower and the starter wire and fuse box cables are off the pos. terminal. I also just put the jump start wire on the batt terminal so it would be flopping around.

I'll see if I can get someone to send me pics of the connections I made. The car is an hour drive away so I can only work on it on my days off when I can get a ride down there.

Do you have the ground from your motor mount arm to the body?

start wire on the batt terminal what now?

Also, you might have blown your fusible link in the trunk.

i had the same symptoms and this is how i fixed mine (just something to look for). When I cut my x20 off of the harness to splice the harness to the c101, it turns out i cut the connector off right before 2 ign green wires lead up to 1 then to the x20. so when i connected the one big green wire for the ign, it really need the small green wire too for the car to start.

So you're saying that on the engine side there should be two wires hooked up to the ignition power wire coming from the car? That would make sense as to why the DME has no power if that's what the other smaller green wire goes to.

shit, hadn't heard any updates on this since last thurs when my phone died.

Do you still have the engine ground wires and are they hooked up?

maybe check an m40 car's ETM and cross check the wires there.

Yes, all grounds that I know of are hooked up. Brown ground straps from the wiring harness are on the shock tower, engine is grounded off the motor mount arm to the frame rail.

I have not be able to find an M40 ETM, let alone one for a post 92 E30.

sounds like its going to be a "trace the wires" game.

Check the wire that branches off with the diagnostics plug, make sure that is grounded.
                            Thats what got me :)

And there is the ecu power wire as mentioned before, and I am basing this off an e36 harness fyi

you might want to do this. I was literlly trying to figure out your same problem with my swap and i simply grounded the ECU with an extra wire and it fixed my problem.

i was under the impression the ECU was grounded through the harness so thats probably what gunmetal is talking about here. My wire branching off the diagnostics connector isnt hooked up so im going to try that and get rid of the extrs ground i added and let you know.
