Wow... Thanks for the honesty. It's not too popular sometimes, but truth nonetheless. I like that. Thanks.

Wow--- $370 profit. I just might call myself a fucker if I made that much per unit. Naaa... The E30 plugs are over $35 and the E36 one is around $15, the rubber boots are like $5 each (2 needed), the Pins for the plugs are $1 each - I don't have the details in front of me but I think there's about 38 pins in the adapter. There's money for wire, sheathing, and nominal costs for solder and shrink. Did I mention the parts are BRAND NEW? The first few had some used components, but the old solder on the used pins was making me nervous.

Yeah, I'm not sure it's worth even responding to these types of threads, but I'll continue for those of you with intelligence and integrity (you know who you are).

There's well over $100 of parts. Then I hired an electrical tech to help me make them so I can spend more time on the phone offering support. (hence you won't see my name here as much as Kylebes1 - I'm actually working.) It takes a few hours to make each one (yes , even after making them all year - released in Jan 05) Then we test each one wire for wire, Two times. Then I plug it into a car and test it.

Whatever, ya know what, I don't care that a "competing" product is out there, the problem for me was really when Mr Taylor threw Treehouse and me under the bus with his release message:

If you can pay that do it, but I have done three swaps now and made my own adapter for each of them.

Takes about an hour for each, it is important to pay close attention.

    $120 each.

If you want one be sure to include the month and year of your car, as well as the model, if you have ABS, and an oil level sensor.

Oh and my signature color is not Grabber Green, it will most likely be a shade of FLAT BLACK!

    Just looking for interest.

    email is kylebes1@hotmail.com
This pretty much sums up the true colors of the person we're discussing. Basically, his opening sales pitch is nothing other than crying about price and a jab over the color. Kyle, sorry to attack publically like you, but you are lacking integrity to release a competing product in my face here at R3V drastically undercuting the price AND then talk bad about Treehouse. That's what I'm referring to when I said Slimy.

Try shooting over a professional email or calling to discuss. You don't owe that to me, but you really owe it to yourself if you know anything about business, sales, relationships, .... ANYTHING!

Are we supposed to be impressed by the fact that you have done 3 swaps? Man, don't tell people that shit. You are proud of that, and that's good, but in reality, you're exposing further that you have NO experience with M50 swaps. Please do not respond to this part of my message - it will only hurt your "reputation".

For the record, Treehouse DID NOT invent the M50 swap OR the 5 Lug conversion. We invented the damn internet. Get it straight people.

PS- The Green works like a charm. Everyone remembers it. I get calls like this:
Ring, "Hello?". "Yes, I'd like to buy a set of the green things." .....
Let me know when people call you with a credit card asking for flat black things.

Heres some more honesty. And I'm not trying to be a dick to be a dick. This is how I feel about this.
$100.00 in parts and so you are charging $100.00/hr for labor. Sorry, I don't think I will be buying that from you guys.
The whole motor was less than $800.00 why would I buy one of these from you guys when you charge 1/2 as much as the motor itself. Justify it however you want but I will be getting it from someone else.
It's just simply not fairly priced.

A good friend of mine is making urethane motor mounts for the conversion soon and he will be selling them for the same as all the other urethane motor mounts he sells. Not just because they are "rare". I don't think it's a great idea for you to be speaking of integrity.

This is not that rare of an item to only be getting it from THR. Maybe I'll make custom headers for the swap and sell them for $1400.00 because they are somewhat rare....So based on the price you should expect people to find other alternatives.

You can't expect anyone to buy these type of parts so the E30 "forever lives on" and people wont to make parts for it. That's just funny considering there are all kinds of parts for the E30 already. I don't support companies that make parts "just because".

i normally hate internet debates. but i just couldnt resist.

e30 owners are cheap.....i am an e30 owner.....yes, i can be cheap too. but you have to understand that you are buying more than wires and two plugs. what you are buying is knowledge that goes into a product. THR does have time and experience behind them. I did not buy the adapter, but i would have enough confidence in their work to know it was done right. not to mention the tech support.

for the other "do it yourselfers" that just follow pin diagrams......does your o2 heater get power? ive asked this many times and never gotten a response. put a voltometer on the green wire off the o2 relay. are you confident enough in your wiring to sell it for a profit?

                  cheers, jason

EDIT: um, i was trying to stick up for THR. sorry if it didnt come across that way.

the problem is that noone wants to pay for research, development or support. i did my first conversion over 2 years ago and there was no such product. if i paid myself $5/hr to research and archive all the wiring diagrams and make it work properly......i think i would have broke the 400 mark. the problem is that others come along, take free advice (now concidered common knowledge) and produce a knockoff (without ever cracking a wiring diagram) and sell it for profit.

anyone test there o2 heater yet???

Tree House has employee's to pay...Taxes to pay...overhead...and last but not least The owner....

You guys bitch too much!!!!! Wait till the pull there sponsership from the site and Matt asks for hosting money....

Seriously, this site is in the spiral to the bottom again.

Tree House at least made this unit publicly available, most shops would have said No get Bent as that was the longest part of the process.

Yes, yes, yes! What thes "hack" jpbs do not understand is the reliability factor of THR, you are ALWAYS available for questions and help....... Probably the most honest independant shop that is out there (that I have come across anyways).

To all the other E30 owners out there, these guys are the real deal, they design test and service everything they do.

                      Race proven.

I will stick up for "tyres" Siccardi and Skafrog any day.

Fucking right. Jon, you have nothing to prove here. Let the little cheap ass high schoolers but their junkyard parts. You still have your real customers regardless of this web site. You don't have to waste your time arguing with kids here to defend your product.

For all of you that say wiring it yourself is so easy, think about all the time you spend researching the proper diagrams, asking questions, confirming answers, and THEN diving into the wiring (how ever long that may take you), plus any time spent trouble shooting if you mess even a single wire up. Now, your time is probably not worth any money since you are probably in high school and modding your car with your allowance money, but think about all that time you could have saved by buying THR's product. No headaches, no internet misinformation, just a solid product from some great guys. Considering the price a shop would charge to wire a swap, I think the price is 100% fair.

To any of you other knowledgable guys like Addis and Cam, this isn't pointed at you, more towards hack mechanics like Kyle.

I'd agree with you if they were the ones that actually figured it all out. This whole thread is just silly. If you want to make your own product or help someone else make something for less than another manufacturer then do it.
The actual work of making the connections is not difficult. The pins are already figured out.

If you put Kyle in that boat then you have to include anyone that does this stuff on their own.

We are also talking about one product THR makes, not all of them.

Not all of us were putting Kyle in that boat. We were defending the reasons for why it cost a Business $400 for the part. Kyle probably does this out of his parents basement hence no overhead...
