I agree a 225 drag radial is not nearly enough tire to put four hundred horse power to the ground. Hell much more than that and you would probably have to mini-tub an e30 to hook it up. Then you would probably have problems breaking axles or other drivetrain components but I am talking out of my ass here. I am basing this on my knowledge of 5.0 Mustangs. Mmmm 5.0/e30. Sacraledge I know but I have both and engine and a body shell in my garage.

I would like to have this kind of horsepower in an e30 but I would want to open road race and/or go to the Salt Flats for a Speed Week. A 11 or 12 second e30 impresses me though.

Not many people hit the strips in their e30s. Even us swap guys are few and far between. :(

That being said, I will be going this summer when I can get my car better prepared. :nice:

    Well I pulled a 1.8 60ft, 12.4 @113 in a 4klbs sedan with 380-400whp with Nitto rIIs (road race tire)... I would say I am decent driver...

11.9's makes me feel much better about this purchase. With around 450whp and drag radials I hope I can pull a sub 11.50. I will be VERY happy with an 11.50 or better.

    Thanks!

Some of these 1/4 times are quite disappointing for me. I bought an E30 to have a lighter car. I am hoping to have a mid 11s daily driver. I had a E39 M5 S2 and I ran 12.4 @ 113mph. I parted it out and will sell it when I return from Iraq. I have recently bought an E30 with a S/C s50. It makes around 400whp the same my S2 made but... it weighs around 1k less.

I will be running 225-50-15 drag radials and raising the whp. I am installing cams, smaller pulley, headgasket/arp bolts and a new tune. Shooting for 450-475whp. I want to be well into the 11's or better.

Comments? Has anyone ran an E30 with around 400whp through the traps?

    Thanks!
    Ryan
If you're a good driver and you can get traction, you'll be able to break into 11s, someone else ran 11.99 with 300whp.

My best was 12.2 ET @ 1/4 mile with about .9 R/T (I suck). Was on semi slicks for track use and spinning all the 2th.

EDIT: I just noticed this is only for m50-s50 engines...oops.

Yeah tell me about it... I will be running drag radials so, that should help. Once the power plant is finished I will be looking into 16" wheels since there seem to be more DR options for the 16's than the 15's. Anyone know what the 400whp E30s run through the traps?

for whatever it's worth I ran a 17.00 with my bone stock superETA with my clutch slipping pretty badly. I'm sure it'd run mid to low 16s without the slippage.

This was not on a track but according to the dynolicous iPhone app which is supposed to be pretty accurate.

I have an i top end that will go on soon enough, I'm hoping to break into 15s with that and a higher ratio diff.

A stock m10 would probably be in the 19s haha
